Chapter 7 : Mesa- She….was hungry.
...........................................................................................................................................................................

She was gravid and due to lay her eggs any week now and she was STARVED. She ate anything she saw that moved. She was one dangerous mother monster. All hundred foot of her scaly length was STARVED.

She prowled the depths and cleaned them out. Anything that she saw move...she ate. She moved to the shoreline and depopulated the shallows. She was death incarnate.

Anything and everything that wanted to live...left. It was death to be seen by her. She was STARVING.

This happened every damn time she got pregnant. All she wanted to do was eat...eat...eat. A hundred ton hundred foot long sea monster took a lot of food in the best of times. When she was pregnant was the worst of times…

Anything that lived on, in, or near the sea...suffered.

Briefly.

Nor was she the most deadly denizen of the sea...or not normally. When she was gravid even those nominally her superior would avoid her. There were, however, others. The sea or near the sea was no safe place for humans..elves, dwarves or any humanoid race.

Interfere not in the affairs of Sea Monsters...because you are crunchy and go good with ketchup..

Words of wisdom.

And yet she starved.

Her young ones needed nourishment. If she did not eat constantly and continuously to keep them fed..they would eat HER.

A mother’s life is a bitch sometimes.

She was between between Scylla and Charybdis so to speak...the rocks of Scylla or the whirlpool of Charybdis. She must either eat...or be eaten..

………..and then...Charybdis, the whirlpool, sucked her under. She was pulled deep. Deeper than she had ever gone into the stygian darkness below the surface of the world ocean. The pressure rose disastrously and she died. She was crushed.

Charybdis, the rip in reality, the tear between universes, drained giga-buncha-tons of water from one world...and transferred it, and it’s contents, into another. The sea levels equivalized. The world of her home, called Mesa by some, saw its sea level fall a few hundred feet.

The world that received that water, called Earth, Terra or Midgard by some, saw it’s sea level rise...a thousand foot. Midgard was a smaller planet than Mesa. It’s diameter was less.

She didn’t care. She was dead.

Not so her unborn young. They were myriad..and survived in their legions. Her dead, crushed and mangled body drifted on the surface of planet earth...rapidly being eaten from within by her young.

Young, by now the size of nile crocodiles but without their sweet and lovable disposition. Soon they would finish eating her corpse and require additional sustenance.

The coastlines of earth were flooding...and the waters were full of munchies..
