#70: It's full of stars!

Actually it was full of diamonds...mighty fine ones too. They LOOKED like stars..

Shelby was surprised

“What?” Elvira said “Shirley you know that diamonds are just a form of carbon?”

“Well yeah, don't call me Shirley.” he said. “But..but... ”

“It’s elementary my dear Shelby ” Elvira said. “ Those are special diamonds. They are forges.”

“Oh pretty forgeries.” Shelby ran sifted them through his fingers. “Huh...Most of them look like blue white ice. What are the big red ones?”

“NOT Forgeries...that would be Forges. They make things. The Red One’s are the Forge Forges. They have a variable setting and can be used to make other things too. In this case they made the blue-white ones which are just forges for making Structural Smoke.” Elvira explained.

“ForgeForge?” Shelby asked “

“Yeah...unless you LIKE being cut?” Elvira asked him “They replace the BloodNanites.”

“Good point” Shelby said “VERY good point”.

“The Red Ones can make anything. “ Elvira said “A better name would be ‘Atomically Precise Fabricator’ or just Fab....or something. Just pour the feed-stock in one end...what you want comes out the other end. In a manner of speaking I mean. The actual assembly process might vary depending on what it is you want it to fabricate. Obviously it can’t make very big pieces. Something large would require subcomponents...and possibly small robotic assemblers. The size of ants maybe? ”

“The whole programming process is controlled by the neuro-loops. The RedForges can make neuro-loops too.” she said

“Can they make more RedForges?” Shelby asked.

“Yup” Elvira said.

“hmmm. “ Shelby pondered “Great Products. Sucky names. Who ever heard of a forge-forge. I’ll have to consider the marketing more.”
