Chapter 138: “Try not to let anyone see this”
.......................................................................................................................................................................................
I sent an all points bulletin to everyone who could receive it. That would be the Browns and Shaniqua. They sprang into action instantly as if they knew what I wanted them to do before I did. Like I said they ALL think faster than I do. Shaniqua doused the lights inside briefly then appeared under a spotlight in the middle of the ring...doing a strip tease.
THAT got everyone in the crowd’s attention. The men anyway, except for one guy. He didn’t seem interested. The women, however, were NOT amused.
Meanwhile the Browns rushed back inside, closed the door, and prevented anyone from leaving. Not that anyone wanted to, except for that one guy. He walked over to a window and looked out. Everyone ELSE however, was all eyes on Shaniqua. Not only was she disrobing but she was doing it in a remarkably athletic fashion. Or so I was told later by Roy’s boy....I was rather busy at the time.
And then there was Charlie. He was right there with me, although his face was green as pond scum and puke was dripping from his mouth, running down his face and ruining his shirt. Even so he was picking up body parts as fast as he could.
“Toss them into the back of the Swat Van.” I told him. Then I called the wasps. A veritable swarm descended onto the parking lot and began cleaning up the squishy parts that we couldn’t easily pick up and sucking up the blood.
Soon we had most of the body parts thrown in the back of the van.
“Can you drive either one of these?” I asked Charlie. I looked back at the Quonset barn to see if anyone was looking. Someone was looking out the window. He’d seen everything. I zoomed in my vision. (I can do that...it’s a cyborg thing). I saw the guy smile and give me a thumbs up..then he turned away.
That was very odd..but I had other irons in the fire. I turned back to Charlie.
“I’m not sure.” he replied. He checked the squad car that had escorted the van. "Nope...it’s got a stick.”
He checked the van that the Swat Team had arrived "Yup..it’s auto-magic. I can drive this.”
“Follow me then.” I said. I got into the squad car and drove toward the city. My plan was to crash the Van into a river, bayou or something. When it was found I hoped that it would appear that the poor brave police had died in the crash and scavengers had ripped their dead bodies apart. The swamp had just the wild life to do it too. Snapping turtles, alligator gar and four legged gators, the afore mentioned invading snakeheads and perhaps other stuff too.
“And why would all of them be in one vehicle? Jenny asked " What about the squad car? Why should it be empty?
“I dunno...why?” I asked.
“Because there was a terrible accident on the way here. " She replied.”The driver of the squad car lost control and smashed into a tree. The van stopped, rescued the driver and the passenger, aborted the raid and was heading back toward town at a high rate of speed when it too, veered out of control and crashed into the water.”
“Yeah..that’s exactly what happened.” I told her.”or it’s gonna happen real soon now.”
I pulled over onto the shoulder and stopped , got out, and ran back to the car that charlie was driving. He had stopped behind me when I did. " Get out. Stand by the van. I’ll be right back.” I told Charlie.
He did that.
I got in ...took off like a bat out of hell, did a revenuers turn, speeded up again, and was doing a hundred or better when I jerked the wheel to the right and slammed into a tree.
“Blah” I spit and sputtered.
I punched the door open and slid out...then ran to the van.
Charlie was just standing there looking at me.
"Hang on a minute" I told him" I got one more thing to do"
I reached into the van and grabbed a body part...didn't really care what it was..then I sprinted back to the smashed police car and wrung all the blood out of the body part onto the seat, steering wheel..and ground around the car. It never hurts to be too careful. Some bright lad might wonder why there wasn't any blood otherwise.
Now there was blood.
I sprinted back to the van.
Charlie looked kinda green. I saw headlights in the distance.
“Hop in, we gotta go.” I told him as I tossed the wrung out body part into the back of the van.
“You stink” he said when he was in the passenger seat.
"SkunkCabbage.. I got into a patch of it....Nasty stuff.” I told him. "hang on.”
The van didn't go all that fast. It took a little while to get up to speed. The headlights behind us were getting closer. I was going as fast as it would go, when I approached a bridge over a bayou was just ahead. I’d hadn’t met any cars oncoming but the headlights behind us were pretty close.
Perfect.
I would have an audience for my show.
When the van was in the middle of the brigde, right over the deepest part I hoped, I whipped the wheel to the right. At first I was concerned that it might not go over the side, the cop car might not have been low slug. The van was not only taller and thus top heavy..the morons had loaded it wrong....they had heavy stuff in the top rack.
No problemo...we went right OVER the rail , splashed into the water and went under almost instantly. Charlie was hanging on for dear life. I grabbed him. Smashed the door open and swam out, kicked away from sinking vehicle. I pulled Charlie to the surface as fast as I could then spread my wings. I launched like a polaris missile , carrying Charlie into the foggy night sky. He was spiting out swamp water. The puke was all gone off of his face and shirt though. That was a good thing. I noticed that van hadn’t exploded. I wondered why.
“Why wasn’t there an earth shattering Ka-Boom Charlie?” I asked the kid” I was expecting an earth shattering Ka-boom. I’ve been cheated.”
Charlie looked at me like I was nukin futz then calmly said "That only happens in movies, or on TV. This is real life.”
He looked around. Looked at me...at my wings. Then said "I think.”
Behind us there was an explosion. It made a very nice splash. Parts of the car fell back into the water and all over the landscape.
“Fixed it for ya.” Jenny said. "All those high explosives that they had loaded in the van certainly helped.
