#83: Cigars and Brandy

Shelby, The Dragon Lady, and all of the guests were relaxing around the table. The dishes had all been cleared away. It was Cigar and Brandy time. Shelby was speaking. In front of every guest...was a small ugly dragon.

A demo.

“Here there be Dragons” Shelby said "Catchy name isn’t it. Here’s how it works. These guys are animatronic robots much like what I’ve been building for some time. They are controlled mentally by you using the neuro-loops that are worn around your neck or head. Many of you already have Neuro-loops in one form or another, that you received with one of my earlier products"

"This is the new model. All the other models are obsolete. This model has a tiny specialized Atomically Precise Fabricator at it’s core which resembles a small blue white diamond. That fabricator processes whatever this bad boy eats into structural Smoke" he told them. " In keeping with the metaphor, in the fullness of time , it will lay an egg. Using the .....”

There came a knock at the door. Marc opened it.

Chad was there. He was wearing Shelby’s old six legged exo-skeleton, what looked like a leather jacket and a motorcycle helmet. He looked like the bastard lovechild of a coach-roach and a hell’s angel with a gym bag at his side.

He was accompanied by a small avatar in the shape of a dragon

Shelby grinned hugely. “Ah yes...It’s been a long time since I seen that..brings back memories.”.

“What the hell is it?” Captain stage whispered to Marc....to which the Dragon Lady frowned and Shelby just grinned.

Shelby took a sip of whisky and a drag on his ceegar. “I’ll explain later.”

The dragon lady nodded to him then said to Chad. “Welcome young man. I’m sorry that you arrived too late for dinner but we have drinks. Would you care to come in and join us?”

“Yes Ma’am.” Chad said after removing the helmet.

“Show everyone what you brought us.” The Dragon Lady said.

Chad nodded then reached into the gym bag....

....and withdrew the severed head of Director McCarthy.

Chad held the head aloft for everyone to see. McCarthy looked shocked.

“We won’t be bothered by Viper any more will we?” Shelby muttered.
