#33: Naomi - Feeling Guilty
“That’s just peachy” Naomi said
“Well the good part about the bad part.” Shelby told her “ is that the Bannana Slug is pretty slow. I mean rilly, rilly, slow. You can probably swim faster than it can move. It shouldn’t be too hard to modify this life pod so that it can catch up to us...eventually. A stern chase is a long one.”
“You haven’t said anything about the baby” Julie said.
“No I haven’t.” told her “ That presents a bit of a problem. The baby died you see.”
“OH NO!” both Julie and Naomi cried.
“What’s in the egg?” Julie asked.
“The baby.” Shelby said “Yvette and the other Daemons brought it back to life. It’s kinda what Daemon’s do. In this case, however there have been complications. Rather extreme ones in fact.”
“Like what?” Naomi said.
“It’s rather technical” Shelby told her “The short version is that the babies body was very badly damaged. It was seriously hypothermic when Yvette got there. It had also suffered injuries due to it’s premature birth. It’s alive....rather it’s brain is alive. It’s body, what there is of it, is on life support.”
“Oh how horrible” Naomi said
“Poor, poor baby!” Julie was almost in tears.
“We’re not really sure what we can do” The Eagle said in Shelby’s voice. “ The present consensus is that I , that is the Eagle, fly it back to the Banana Slug. It and the egg are just BARELY within the load capacity of this drone. It’ll be a little bit tricky but I think I can get it back to us. Perhaps we can do more to help it there.”
Naomi was torn. On the one hand she was glad that there wasn’t to be a baby in her immediate future...and she felt ashamed for feeling so.
Julie said “If that’s what you think best. It’s for sure and for certain that we don’t have the faintest clue how to take care of a baby that’s injured as bad as you say it is.”
Naomi looked at Julie with relief. She had been afraid that Julie would resist. That would have been hard.
“Ok...” Shelby said “ Now that is settled, color me OUT of here.”
With that the Eagle took off. Almost instantly it was out of sight. The fog was getting thicker.
“I’d thought he’d stay around a little bit longer” Naomi muttered.
“I’ll just bet you did “ Julie told her “but since he’s gone I wonder how we are going to manage to adapt the pod to moving?”
“That’s my job” a young boy’s voice spoke from the water. It was coming from the catfish.

it's hard to tell what’s true or when they are lying isn’t it? It seems that they are more interested in influencing public opinion than they are reporting the facts.

Hopefully, the bottom feeder can really help Naomi and Julie reach the Banana Slug; However, the risk remains that Colonel Klink (of the Viper Agency) can intercept them. Pending the process to be able to return to life to the baby.
Sounds like Cody is gonna be on the job. Is that going to make Julie happy? Or is someone else on the job?
Naomi Should not feel guilty,
One of the major problems of the premature baby is "hypothermia" as a result of the poorly developed thermoregulatory mechanism.
