#99: Release the Krakens
The bottom feeders discovered the mother lode...again. It was amazing how polluted that poor river was. This time it was more than a mere tire dump. It was a whole tanker train derailment. A large number of tank cars lay in the mud at the bottom of the river, lost from sight. No telling how long they had been there. They looked like antiques.
“Damn people are messy” Shelby said as he looked at the info from the Bottom Feeder. “their loss is our gain though. There’s a new thing.”
“What’s that?” Chad asked.
“A bottom feeder has located a bunch of railroad tanker cars laying in the river mud. They’re full of oil.” Shelby grinned.
“It can’t get to it huh?” Chad asked
“Nope” Shelby told him.” Cat fish can’t open hatches or valves.”
“Oh my” Chad said theatrically ”what ever shall we do?”
Shelby looked at the young Mage and raised an eyebrow. “Ok wise guy. I know you have an idea. Quit being coy. What is it?”
“Release the Kraken” Chad replied.
Shelby swam along the river bottom. This was kind of weird. It was the first time that he’d ever tele-operated a squid. It was a big squid too. It would have been a fit opponent to the Nautilus or to Moby Dick. It had all those lovely tentacles, just perfect for opening hatches and manipulating valves.”
Yup..he located a tank car. It was full to the brim of some type of hydrocarbon liquid. He didn’t really care which flavor. It was all going to be turned into SSmoke anyway. He got busy right away.
The Kraken examined the tank car. Located what it was looking for, and opened a valve. Oil began to flow into the water just before the Kraken covered the pipe with it’s ‘mouth’. It sucked the oil into it’s body. Inside the body of the Kraken the oil was converted to SSmoke and thus to DragonEggs.
“How you doing there son?” Shelby asked Chad. Chad was operating another Kraken.
Just fine.” Chad replied “My there are a lot of tank cars aren’t there?”
When those tank cars finished cooking Flint Island would be SSmoke rich. It would be a quite a while before he needed more carbon for feedstock. The content of all those tanks and would last for a long long time
..…or so he thought.

I am going to guess that something is going to happen that is going to require a shitload of Ssmoke. I wonder what it is going to be. Or is it that to many people are flying around and playing with it and using it all up?
SSmoke doesn't GET used up.
