#60: Attempted Home invasion

Marc stared at the would-be burglars in stunned amazement. It was truly remarkable what a child could do now days. Why he remembered when he was a young boy, about Cody’s age, back on the reservation he’d have been happy and proud just to catch rabbits in a snare made from a branch and some leather strips.

“Interesting technique there Cody” Marc said “ What did you use to trigger the snare release?”

“I had a remote controlled Star Wars X-fighter I got when I was a little kid” the five your old boy said “Most of it was broke so I took it apart. I used stuff from it. The Mz-147 Macronics Laser...techno-babble,techno-babble, baffle-gab”

“My how soon they start” Marc thought, eyes starting to glaze. “A Geek in full cry..so very young”.

Marc listened raptly as Cody described how he’d built and installed the security apparatus for his house.

“You done good Cody” he said “I suppose I ought to take them down though. Hanging upside down in the breeze like that has to be embarrassing, especially with their pants the way they are.”

“Oh yes Please” one of the gang-bangers pleaded “ Awl de blood done gone ta my haid. It hurtz. Lemme down ... I wuz jest.....nawt my fawlt....s...”

Marc listened in disgust. Not even a very good tale. He’d heard them all and this had to rate as one of the worst.’

"Do you think I should let them live Cody?” he asked “or should I just slit their throats and throw the bodies into the river?”

The hood-rats shut up. Shit just got real.

‘I like to fish in the River Officer Two-feathers” Cody said in all seriousness “ It wouldn’t be nice to pollute it.”

The expression on the hood-rats face was precious.
