The story keeps getting better.

Just one nit to pick: Vincent is a pro, and he would know how to act so he wouldn't get shot. Saying 'this' and reaching into a jacket is a good way to get shot.

He'll ask for permission to reach into his jacket and take that something instead of going for it straight away. And when he does reach for it, he'll go slowly and carefully, so nobody will mistake his movements for a draw.

You got a point there. My reasoning was there's 5+ guys with weapons all trained on him, so they and he know that he wouldn't get very far with pulling a grenade, or something like that. He would've been perforated in a heartbeat if he tried anything, so they kept an eye on him, but wanted to see what he had that'd be worth letting him into town.
But you're probably right, and I'd have deaded him if I'd been on that wall, lmao.
