You write with authenticity - you know this village, these people. We nod in recognition. We get warm fuzzies at Grandpa's explanation for those two bumps (aka, shoulder blades?) - and some readers will take Gpa literally (magic!) and others will understand the kind, gentle way an old man reassures an anxious little girl.
Beautiful story. Haunting. I love it!
