Lemons: More Microfiction
"Sprite, iced tea, orange juice?" My sister enjoys being a bitch.
"Allergies, remember?" Damn citrus. I never should've come. "What's for dinner?"
"Salmon in lemon." Her smile widens, showing far too many teeth.
Some lemons you're born with, some you have to buy.
"I'm done." Always rotten, those lemons.
This is another fifty word story written to the weekly prompt from Jayna Locke.
Inspiration can be a bit literal yet convoluted to these. I had trouble at first getting an idea, because the first thing that pops into my head when I think of lemons is migraine. All forms of citrus are severe triggers for me--I can't even be in the same room as someone peeling an orange without getting one.
Since I couldn't think of anything else after more than a day contemplating, I decided to run with it. But I needed an arc. I ended up with a character whose family ought to know about her allergy but intentionally ignores it.
Just for the record--I don't have any sisters.
As usual, I ran my writing through my peer review group and it really helped improve the story. I strongly recommend the gang on INKubator if you're serious about your writing.

Well done! That’s a very interesting conflict. I think that really does happen in families, where people exhibit either a lack of sympathy or passive-aggressive behavior towards other family members’ dietary restrictions. Thanks for taking part in the 50-word challenge!
