The Pain of Betrayal
Part-2
"People get hooked on bad stuff all the time and rush to rehabs to cure them. Nowadays, bad stuffs are changing into bad people. But there is no rehab for getting addicted to people. Ough! It’s always up to the person under the knife. Vritu, I warned you a million times not to blindly believe that rogue. See what happened now? It’s all your fault. If I was you..."
“Neha, can you stop all this bullshit for God’s sake!! You have become the biggest problem for me now than what Arya did! F*** off girl!”, Vritika interrupted her sister.
Vritika was withering in pain. Her mobile hasn’t stopped ringing for the last few days. She was too very exhausted to pick up the phone every 5 minutes and listen to heartfelt sympathy and advice and to explain that overwhelming breakup story.
The agony she was experiencing was unquenchable. The endless wait, the broken promises, the misunderstandings, everything feels likes a rude splash of water on her face. But what was confusing is that what brought him to arrive at such a decision. She still can not fathom the pain and confusion. The anguish and the loss of a dream so precious were unbearable for Vritika and so scary too.
Life became so shoddy that all her days were filled up with the same filmy emotions, screams, piles of cigarettes, bottles of beers, messy uncombed buns along with a loop of 'Why this Kolaveri to Sunn Raha Hai Na' on the music player.
A few days later...
"Hello, Miss Vritika Narayan. This text is from Global Clinical Laboratories to inform you that your test results are ready. Please do come and get them by 5 in the evening. Have a nice day. Thank you.", a message popped up on Vritika's mobile.
The clock struck 3 PM. The laboratory walls were painted bright white, trimmed in yellow wallpaper borders that were covered with bouncy little vines and flower petals. On the walls were the prints of summer scenes and smiling babies. The exam rooms, the lab for mixing meds, that great little reception room with pleasant nurses who kept the hospital humming made Vritika somewhat more nervous and edgy.
"Miss Vritika Narayan. Your test report!", a nurse squawked from the reception room.
Vritika started to profusely sweat and was highly strung. Trembling with fear, she opened the report and was horrified to see the words written on it:
"HIV- Positive"
