Chapter 14.

INTERSTELLAR NEWS CHANNEL 9. NEWS FLASH.

A trade delegation today won a high court ruling for the easing of sanctions on space travel. The ruling will help ease shortages within the Inner Systems. The Federal Security council gave its backing to the delegation, saying the ruling will free up vital military units from ensuring the delivery of essential goods between planets. General Jee head of the Federation Navy and the Earth Defence Force stated that limited military escorts would be available where it did not interfere with operational security. The ruling is seen by many to be a sign that the drawn out War of the Coffee Bean is coming to an end. With a decrease in terror attacks after a number of E.D.F. tactical strikes, and the Ick being unable to mount any new offensives, experts believe that a final push to end the war is not far off.

Geurick Tackful walked through the droid production facility. This was the main centre for the Federation’s battle droids, a planet-wide factory producing a hundred thousand battle droids and over ten thousand robot fighter ships every twelve hours. It was a fully automated facility with less than a hundred people situated in the central control hub in case of any major problems that the maintenance driods could not fix. Now each of those support staff wore a little black box and all were under the control of Mr Fluffy.
His new boss Mr Fluffy had not stopped at mind control on people; an entire new secret program had been added to the droids’ database to be activated when Fluffy was ready to act. The Federation forces would find themselves surrounded by an army of mutinous droids right inside their own forces. Geurick was not happy at what he was seeing but he had little choice in his actions if he wanted to stay alive. On the bright side he had just successfully completed his latest mission and as a result soon the entire remaining Ick Fleet would no longer be a threat. Despite the fact that he now worked for Mr Fluffy, his main enemy was still the Ick, and he could in part justify his actions if he was working to bring them down.

Walking into the main control room, he saw the giant form of his new boss, the robotic battle suit of Mr Fluffy stood at over twelve feet in height and dwarfed everyone in the room.
“Was your mission a success, Tackful?” Mr Fluffy asked without turning to him.
“The data virus was uploaded into the relay system just like you ordered,” replied Geurick, walking over to stand near to Mr Fluffy; but he was careful not to get close enough as to come within striking distance. Mr Fluffy was unpredictable and prone to lash out at the closest object.
“I have a final couple of tasks for you. After they are done I will be ready to act, and maybe give you your freedom back. I will make you the greatest assassin the universe has ever known. You will have removed the Ick Navies and destroyed the heart of the Federation, leaving the path clear for the rise of a new order.”
“You forget the Order of the Coffee Bean. They will still be a power even without the Federation,” said Geurick.
His loyalty to the secret order was far deeper rooted than he had thought. He took a step backward in case Fluffy reacted badly to his words. Fluffy turned slowly towards Geurick; instinctively the assassin's hand moved towards the pistol. This resulted in a loud purring noise coming from Mr Fluffy that Geurick had learnt was amusement. Suddenly Fluffy launched himself at Geurick. knocking him over. Before he had time to react, he was pinned to the floor and four razor-sharp claws were pressed to his throat.
“No one will be a threat to me anymore. I will stand alone as the only power in the universe. The days of Federations and Empires have passed; there will be only me and what I choose to allow.”
