The Second Book of the Alienbutt Saga. The Rise of Mr Fluffy. Part 44.

Death Ray came to a stop. Stepping close to the wall, she crouched down. In less than a minute the three assassins who had been watching the central courtyard had been killed. She knew each of them and was shocked at the speed of their deaths. Their prey was far more skilled than anyone they had ever faced before. Pressing a button on her belt, she shimmered and disappeared from normal sight. Lifting her arm she flipped back a cover on her wrist and pressed other buttons that would block out any sign of body heat. Finally happy that all defensive precautions had been carried out, she pressed a final button, sending a “kill on sight” order to the remaining assassins. Their target was too dangerous to take any more chances with. Replacing her gun in its holster she then moved forward. Already she knew the other assassins would have taken the same precautions as she had. She was already starting to suspect that the role of hunter and prey had been reversed.

Mr Fluffy stood still in the centre of the square and began to scan the entire trading post. Heat signs from basements revealed the local residents had quickly found hiding places as the shooting had begun. One building at the far end was shielded from his attempts to scan it, so he knew that would be the place where the Galactica agent would be. Of the assassins he could find no trace with any of his scans. They had disappeared and must now be using their cloaking devices; the hunt was now on in earnest. He began to walk towards the agents’building. With no traces showing of the assassins for him to home in on, he would make the assassins come for him.

The assassin clung to the wall unmoving as the robotic form of his prey walked down the street beneath him. Totally invisible, his form blended in without the slightest trace of his presence. On the wall opposite was a second assassin also hidden in the same manner, while a third lay on the floor just in front of them. As their prey walked beneath them they sprang, laser swords at the ready to slice though his metallic armour. In mid fall their target sensed them and raised his arms, laser shields appearing on each arm deflecting their strikes. The assassin on the floor leapt forward, his sword thrust towards the chest area to deliver a killing blow. The assassin watched in shock as their victim easily deflected the attack of the other two assassins, then leapt with unbelievable speed and dexterity over him to avoid his own attack. Twisting in mid-air, the unknown target came down clear of the three and spun to face them. All three took up a fighting stance ready to attack again, each of them confident with their weapon. When their opponent raised his arm and fired at them, they easily deflected the bullets with their swords, then began to edge forward ready to launch a second co-ordinated attack.
Their prey began to purr loudly. Within seconds the noise rose to a painful level and the buildings’ walls began to shake with the vibrations of the noise, the effects of the noise amplified by the narrow enclosed street. The assassins struggled to stay on their feet, with blood beginning to stream from their noses and ears. All the while, the sonic vibrations continued to increase. Dropping his sword, the centre assassin fell to his knees as pain racked his body. He was vaguely aware that his companions had also fallen. He knew he was going to die, even before their intended prey walked forward and casually picked up his dropped sword. He didn’t notice that the purring had stopped as he watched his own sword swing forward to remove his head.
