It's Bout' Time I SQUASH This! ~ #FFF
Soups, chili's and oh! I forgot, momma's oven baked squash. Acorn squash to be exact. I've been eating this kinda squash since I can remember. It's easy to make, cheap, and abso-tootly-delicious! My mom would pop a few of these babies in the oven when we were younger and could feed the lot of us.
Take, Acorn Squash, cut it in half, de-seed, pop in brown sugar, and enough butter to melt your hearts content.
In the oven at 450 for 30-45 minutes, and your golden. Seriously, literally, GOLDEN.
You know it's done with the fork test. Similar to a potato or cake, the fork should slide in and come out clean.
Mix up all the butter and brown sugar, and you're in vegetable sugar heaven.
As usual, if it doesn't look like this, you're doing it wrong!

Aweee, I love squash done that way. Butternut , acorn, spaghetti squash, all good. Sometimes with the spaghetti squash, I will gut the roasted squash, add some other sautéed veggies, maybe some sausage, or browned turkey chop meat mix it altogether and re-stuff the shell, top with a little cheese and bake for another few minutes. It becomes a whole meal in one nice little package. De-lish.
My mom, I hate to say it, wasn't much of a cook. Still isn't. She has a few staples she can fall back on, like her chili or chicken stir-fry, or in this case, her squash. But I love the simpleness of it, and it is so tasty! I'll have to try that spaghetti recipe of yours, sounds amazing! Thanks for the tip, @farm-mom!

It's all good, @lizelle! hahaha, give it a try sometime. Super easy and oh so satisfying, especially when there's a foot of snow on the ground and the outside air will freeze your eyeballs.

Acorn squash is my favorite of all of the squashes. Dressed up with butter and brown sugar, I'm surprised the shell was not consumed.😁

Mine too! The wife tried making spaghetti out of spaghetti squash one time and although it was palatable, I'll stick to my Acorn w/ butter and brown sugar ;) I've never tried the shell, I'ma leave that one for you and you can get back to me.
