Raven Comes Knocking

My entry to #featheredfriday hosted by @melinda010100 is a good sized bird with a large beak that stops by most mornings to check the food supply.

The Raven. Here he is with food in his beak.

The raven usually puts as much as he can in his beak and flies off.

He’s a bit wary as shown on the look on his face. I’m laughing at the photos because they are deceiving~ looks like the raven is walking upright with short wings and no long tail feathers.

I do get a charge out of watching the big bird’s antics. When he arrives on the scene all the other birds take off. Sometimes the blue Jays will scream at him from a safe distance.

The raven in winter waiting to see if any treats coming out the backdoor. This photo gives a better idea of his size.

Ravens are often been written up as messengers of the deceased to act as liaisons to connect the material world to the spiritual realm.

The raven is made famous in Edgar Allen Poe’s supernatural poem “The Raven.” He is portrays the raven as a mysterious talking bird.

Nevermore, cried the Raven to all Poe’s questions as he descends into madness.

Ravens are among the smartest of all birds and have been known to solve complicated problems that were tested by scientists.

I enjoy having the Raven visit and I’m thinking of calling him Poe-Poe.

Awesome photos of Poe-Poe. Melinda will really enjoy these photos too because she loves Ravens. : )

Thanks @whatisnew. Yes, Melinda likes ravens too. Have a good weekend! 😊

They are my favorites! ❤️

We only seem to get ravens up in the mountains these days. Our urban crows rule the roost with the sheer number of them. They seem to keep the pidgeons in check. For sure this raven has figured the treat situation out. They are very clever.

We have lots of crows around, especially see them on the side of the road, but Poe-Poe the raven seems to be the in control here. Have a good weekend Pryde. 😊

Nice Raven bird photography and its available found in our country.

Oh, I wish we had them here! I have to go much further north in Wisconsin to see them. They are a definite favorite of mine and I'm envious that you get visits from this one! Those short wing photos made me laugh!

It is great to see Poe-Poe. He must have lost a mate as he is always alone. One year I had two coming together every morning.
I had to laugh too Melinda at the way he looked in those first photos.

Nice shots of the Raven Jo. We don't seem to have Ravens here in Australia although we have Crows which look similar I suppose.
