Psittacine featheredfriday
Maybe it's just my geek side that wants to know exactly what am I seeing! In this case, I went and searched all the psittacine species that existed in Costa Rica. And I'm 99,9% sure that this cute couple are Brotogeris jugularis, or commonly known as Orange-chinned Parakeet. But if any birder out there disagrees, please let me know!
As most psittacines, they nest on tree holes. Found this couple near a lovely beach a bit south of Manuel Antonio. Most of the time, one of them was inside the next, while the other (probably the male), was guarding the entrance.
There was another couple nearby, but these were not nesting, they preferred to stay in a higher point and enjoy the view.
Well, either that... or they was just waiting for the nosy guy with the camera to go back to the towel and leave them alone! 😅
So what do you say? Brotogeris jugularis, yay or nay??

You captured some great shots of the birds. Pretty color green on the parakeets. I couldn’t tell you what the proper name would be but parakeet sounds good to me. 😊

Me too! It one of the best reasons to travel.... oh and meeting new people, and eating new foods, and having new experiences and seeing new sights. Yep and birds and animals!
