Super-designer Jean-Paul Gaultier announced that he would remove the fur from all his future collections - claiming that "the ways in which the animals are killed for their fur are shocking."

PETA reports that Gautier announced it on French television last night. In this he joins many other famous fashion designers who have stopped selling fur - including Gucci, Versace, Galliano, Armani, Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Vivian Westwood and Stella McCartney.

"The news comes after years of pressure from PETA," he said in an interview with PETA News, "in 2002, when a member of the organization was thrown out of a fashion show after passing a message against fur.In 2006 activists from the organization, led by its founder, Ingrid Newkirk , About a boutique of the famous designer in Paris.

"The decision is a sign that times have changed, and most people no longer want to wear anything that comes from animals who have experienced cruelty, been imprisoned, hushed, and killed or left to die slowly, and now the fur is like the animals from which it was stolen, and like any designer who still does not understand it."
