HOW TO PLANT ORCHIDES IN DRY COCONUT.

Hello friend of the farm hoping that you have received a happy year, today I will teach you how to transplant orchids in coconut shell. Orchids are bright, elegant plants and are available in a large number of species and varieties. All grow better under a soft, indirect light, with good air circulation and need a means of organic and loose growth. Plant or transplant the orchids in an aerated base, such as coconut shells, to ensure rapid drainage and good air circulation between the roots. First we have to mention that the coconut shells last longer than the other organic planting materials, offering a continuous structure and moisture retention. Use a fertilizer high in nitrogen, soluble in water for orchids is very important because it needs to be in moisture and this can be found in coconut shells. The best time to do an orchid transplant is during the period of active growth. The coconut shell provides nourishing support and drainage to the roots of the orchid. The small pieces provide a safer planting site, while the larger ones offer greater air circulation and greater drainage.

MATERIAL YOU WILL NEED:
COCONUT SHELLS
WIRE
SCISSORS / PLIERS
TOBO WITH WATER
ORQUIDEA PLANT

THEN STEP-BY-STEP:

SOURCE

Select a strong coconut shell that is easy to handle so that we can loosen the inner shavings of the coconut shell a little so that the root of the orchid plant to be placed has become easier to develop.

SOURCE

With a wire, proceed to drill the shell of the coconut, then proceed to make a support on the side where the chips are and we make with the wire a haza form to hold the seedling during its growth, being very careful with the root of the orchid and that this is very delicate.

SOURCE

In relation to the placement of the new plant on the support, you must ensure that the roots are well attached to it and that a contact surface with the support is generated in order to ensure that they stick to it.

SOURCE

To use as an orchid substrate only the fibrous part is used with its external part once it is dry or dehydrated.

SOURCE

Once the orchid seedling has been secured in the coconut shell, we will submerge the coconut shell in a tobo with water for 6 hours, so that the coconut shell will absorb as much water as possible since the orchid will need a lot of humidity during its growth.

SOURCE

After the estimated time to moisten the peel, we will place it in a place where taking into account the following:
This is because they are spíphytic plants, that is, they live on other plants without becoming parasites. They absorb water and food from the rain that rolls on the bark of the trees through their aerial roots. Not of the earth like most plants.
Before watering, the first thing to do is to understand the natural conditions in which the orchid lives and how they absorb water and food. Orchids usually live in tropical forests between the branches of trees, always keeping their roots exposed.
Then their risks can vary depending on the place where they are grown, either inside or outside the house, in a pot, a tree or in a hanging coconut shell.

SOURCE

Place, light and temperature
Another factor that will influence the risks is the specific area where they are placed. You have to take into account the type and amount of light that enters the area. Also the temperature and humidity in this particular place.
As a general rule, if you are in a place with dim light or in colder times, you should water less. If on the other hand they are on a terrace with good light and heat, they will need more watering. They should also be watered less indoors than outdoors. So taking these factors into account, water them every 6 or 12 days.

SOURCE

TIPS:
Eliminates excess water on leaves. After you water, dry excess water that is trapped between the leaves and the stem with some absorbent paper. These can cause rot in the plant and even cause fungi and other diseases.
