More Farmers Are Turning To Drones To Save Themselves Time And Money

in #farming7 years ago

We can see drones being used today to help carry out a variety of activities in the market.

Whether it's delivering life-saving medical supplies, survival equipment and supplies to a remote location, helping plant thousands of trees in a forest, monitoring the clean-up of a road after a car accident, there are many ways that the technology has proven to be useful.

It's not just for military endeavors or private hobbyists, as drones have now made their way into a variety of different industry spaces. You can find them being used in the construction field, for real estate, the transportation industry, and a lot more.

It's been suggested that agriculture could be one of the most promising spaces for this technology to flourish.

One occupation that drone technology has quickly made its way into is within the farming industry. There are a growing number of farmers who are looking to turn to using drones to help them with a variety of tasks that they need to complete.

They can use drones to help them check over the crops and to look for damaged areas, they can assess the health of a crop, can be used to spray and plant crops as well, even carry out soil analysis.

By using the drone for something like planting, it's estimated to help reduce their costs by at least 85 percent.

And as the technology has become increasingly cheaper, it's opened up the opportunity for more farmers to look into using it to help them get done what they need to; help get the food to our tables.

There are a variety of workshops and other educational forums now available, where farmers can go and learn about how to use drones in order to help them with things like surveying crops and more.

Drones are helping farmers to be able to get the information that they need quicker, especially when it comes to surveying their land after storms etc, and that can help them to reduce losses and save money.

Drones might be growing in popularity, but there are still many people out there today out there who don't know the first thing about getting started with one and all that it has to offer, the capability it has and the potential for what can be done. That's why these sorts of workshops are beneficial to others them learn about getting started; they might not be familiar with Youtube or be able to use online resources to learn about drone technology.

Education is vital when it comes to helping farmers to understand the full potential of this technology and how it might be able to be used in their daily life to assist them in meeting what needs to get done.

If this technology is something that can help them to make better decisions and minimize risk in their field of work then it's clearly something that's helped to improve their way of life.

Nice. Google's top rated futurist Thomas Frey has guesstimated that there could be 1 billion drones in 2030: http://www.abc.net.au/news/2017-08-31/world-of-drones-congress-brisbane-futurist-thomas-frey/8859008
He has also guesstimated that the biggest company on the internet in 2030 is going to be an online school: http://nordic.businessinsider.com/futurist-predicts-online-school-largest-online-company-2016-12?r=US&IR=T.
Thus, it is interesting that he has just teamed up with Bitdegree.

I think drones will be more and more used. The efficiency of these equipments is incredible and so the advantages are really high.

Interesting! Quite the jump from horse and cart! I imagine until it slowly gets taken over by the younger generation there will be some resistance. Followed

I don't know man. The farmers I've met (quite a few, my mom grew up on a cotton farm) have been more than eager to try new tech that makes their job easier.

Yeah I'm in rural Alberta Canada and believe it or not some people don't have computers or cell phones. Haha just resistance to technology. Can't teach an old dog new tricks type of thing. Them days are definitely coming to an end as the baby boomers age out. My mom has been learning her first tablet and touched a computer for the first time at 60, 4 yrs ago. And does not have a cell phone. But my grandchild who is 5 uses tablets and computers in school and has a cell phone.

Very cool! I'm hoping to use technology to improve quality of life for my family this year. I'm not a farmer, just a welder and family man.

I love how technology can be used to make life easier. Even being as limited as it is today.

This is brilliant! It's way easier to see the extent of damage from above rather than standing by it.

Fascinating however I'm distrustful since I'm utilized to the gigantic spaces of Texas. Planes, beyond any doubt.

rambles appear to little. In any case, I figure the eventual fate of cultivating may be to backpedal to little scale ranches. Possibly we could give better quality sustenance permaculture cultivating strategies.

I'm intrigued to see it attempted, with the goal that the control of our sustenance supply is de-brought together by and by. Family cultivates... we should bring them back!...

Carry on dear...😊😊😊

Excellent post, very good initiative! The development of new technology like this, is the development towards the future. I invite you to appreciate my last post on this subject, greetings. Boeing's electric drone "Carries more than 200 kg payload"

Well drafted
The drone is a blessing to humanity and not farmers because it is being used in other aspect of lives
Such as wedding occassions
Or areas where large number of persons are gathered

Drones are good and they have helped our lives.thanks doitvoluntarily.

The strategies for the economy is the success of the work

Interesting but I'm skeptical since I'm used to the huge spaces of Texas. Airplanes, sure; drones seem to small. But I think the future of farming might be to go back to small scale farms. Maybe we could provide better quality food with permaculture farming techniques. I'm interested to see it tried, so that the control of our food supply is de-centralized once again. Family farms - let's bring them back!

please @doitvoluntarily can we chat privately? good morning happy sunday
