Foster homes investigated 7 times within a year but wasn’t closed them until Tammy died
Tammy Keeash died alone and forgotten. Her life ended in Thunder Bay, Ontario after she was placed in a foster care situation that was not in anyway up to meeting her needs. In fact, the care contractor had been given investigated 7 times for negligence and generally Ignored the rulings of the agency charged with overseeing them. Of course, why would they care? The oversight agency, and the youth, were First Nations.
When Tammy tried to commit suicide at her grandmother’s house, she didn’t receive help, she was removed. When she continued to show signs of suicide ideation, and a 24 hr watch was recommended, she was allowed to go out. When she missed curfew, she wasn’t reported missing.
Her death was ruled accidental but in Thunder Bay that could mean anything but.
