"To help my family, to give them good life" These are the common reasons why most Filipinos prefer to work abroad and I am one of them too. Yesterday my husband and our cousin were helping my sister packed the balikbayan box to be sent to Philippines. After months of haunting for promos and discounts, finally, she has saved enough items to fill into the box. I can imagine the looks on my parents and the children's faces while opening this.
Sadly, some OFW cannot do this. I have known people who were well compensated but didn't save up for their family and for themselves, went home empty-handed, without savings and with broken dreams. I have also known people are enjoying their sweet fruits of labor even with low salaries. The only secret for this is to save.
