👀 I lost my kids at the National History Museum today!!! 👀
Well that was the scariest thing I've ever experienced....
OK, just to put your minds at ease, I didn't physically lose them!! But, their little minds were definitely lost and intrigued by the amazing surrounds and exhibits of Ireland's Natural History Museum..
My eldest son in particular who is four, really loved the museum - his little face was an absolute picture when we first walked in. He loves dinosaurs and fossils, so this place was right up his street. His mum and I thought, hey maybe he might like it, but he ended up loving it and told us "it was the best day ever!" Now, he does say that a good bit to be fair, but he did really enjoy himself today.
This first picture is of him with a giant Irish deer or Irish Elk when we first arrived. The Elk are now extinct, but they were one of the largest deer that ever lived and roamed the Irish countryside for many years. They stood up to seven feet at the shoulder (2.1 meters), with antlers spanning up to 12 feet (3.65 meters)!!
Yep, just Wow!
His younger brother woke from his nap to a huge basking shark hanging from a roof over his head, so that was quite the wake up for him. The poor fella must have got quite the shock! But he too seemed to really enjoy the visuals - he stayed in his buggy for the tour, but was watching everything as we walked around.
Next was the mammoth tooth and tusk, which were a real hit with my eldest son especially.
And he found this magnifying glass really cool as well, and was able to have a really close look at these Moroccan trilobite Fossils.
This Seahorse was found in Co Cork in 1990, and again was a big hit with the boys.
And these starfish were my two year old's favourite, he kept just shouting "star, starrr, STARRRRR"
Stars 🌟 and footballs 🏈 are his things!!
My wife has an irrational fear of birds, so she took shelter as I brought the boys around this section of the museum, much to the amusement of the boys! 😝
There was so much to see, and these big exhibitions were a huge draw for the boys and the other children who were there.
And remember like all museums, strictly no touching any of the artifacts... Harder than it looks for the inquisitive mind of a four year old!!
I hope he got a few quid of the tooth fairy for those back teeth!!
Thank you to the National History Museum for a thoroughly enjoyable and free day out! They don't even charge you for entry to this great amenity.
More information can be found here for any would be visitors.
I took these photos with my Samsung Galaxy A5.
Hopefully you enjoyed this post.
I usually post once or twice a day, so why not drop by my page and say hello :)
Don't be a stranger....
Peace out 😎

The title of your post scared the hell out of me! I'm glad they lost in knolledge and intrigement. There are deffenetly worse things that could happen. I have a four year old myself so i understand the no touching part was difficult. Those big creatures should have been really impressive for them. I can almost image there faces. It's nice to see kids interested for other things than tablets and televisions because that's hard enough these days.
Thanks @liketimmy Yes, it was a great family day out, and like you say, it is great that they like doing these things instead of watching the tv or tablet... My heading was just a joke and was supposed to shock, with a view to getting some people to read this post :o)
