I like your outlook on the subject, Galen. I, too, suffered from a poor mindset concerning failure, namely, I was afraid to do so, all while failing to do any of the successful habits that would prevent it. It nearly dragged me down into a funk, but these past few months humbled this student, and allowed me to get my head back in the game. Many may not understand initially, but this speaks to those who’ve experienced similar stations.

It sounds like you're on-point though and that you get it which I believe is one of the main triggers for moving from that funk or unsatisfactory as-is situation and positively into the future. It's a mindset thing. An attitude.
