I'm Zuccing the Zuck (And Sticking With Steemit)

in #facebook6 years ago (edited)

After having spent a few days creating a new website which serves the purpose of educating my nationals on cryptocurrencies, I've decided to launch a Facebook page and try to run an advertisement. The article of my choice was a brief guide to Bitcoin which would have benefited those who either don't speak English or have very limited time to do some research on the matter.

I really didn't mind offering to give Facebook about $25 of my money, as I thought the goal was noble in itself and happy readers could later make donations to the website. But seeing that Zuck's invention won't even take my money felt a little outrageous.

By now it's common sense that they no longer allow ICOs to promote their funding events, and maybe that it's for the better. It takes a lot of time and knowledge in the field to be able to tell between a legitimate project and a scam, and the majority of Facebook users aren't ready to make such judgments. But when it's a purely educational piece and it gets rejected because it's related to cryptocurrencies, I can't help but feel frustrated and helpless.

When Mark Zuckerberg wrote his new year message and expressed his interest in studying cryptos, he must have actually implied that his social network will end support for anything and everything the Winklevoss twins might be involved in. Because a statement like ”we don't support your business model" is truly outrageous for a non-profit cause with educational purposes.

Will I contact support and try to bargain with them? Hell no. I'll use Steemit instead.

Maybe that the audience isn't as broad and people are much more educated in regards to cryptocurrencies on this platform, but it's still a mean which better dignifies my cause and keeps my wallet full. I won't beg Facebook to take my money and neither should anyone else. Their censorship has gone way too far and lately I've heard about way too many cases of arbitrary restrictions for various keywords (someone got banned from commenting or posting for a week because he had posted Kanye West's song "Niggas in Paris" about 6 years ago, which is as ridiculous as it gets).

Facebook will be getting what it deserves, so I will limit my activity on their website to the bare minimum and move my thoughts, ideas, plans, and hopes on Steemit.

Up to this point I have written all comments and articles in English, but for the sake of supporting my cause I will also begin to use Romanian (with the corresponding tags). I apologize in advance to my followers for all the unintelligible content they will be seeing in their feed, and I hope that you will understand the situation. If you're interested in any way, you can also use one of the online translating tools.

In conclusion, screw Facebook and their stupid censorship and thank God that Steemit exists! Watch out for all the Romanian posts!

Asange himself is no saint and appears to have an agenda of his own, yet the information that he helped reveal is responsible for a global phenomenon of increased transparency and a revival of investigative journalism.

I think Romanians are quite up there in the tech world. There are several ICOs with romanian teams (Restart Energy is one). There is a Romanian cryptoexchange (BTCXchange).

I saw the news coverage regarding cryptos and tried to talk to a few people and they were stuck with the "Bitcoin is a scam that will fail" mindset. They wouldn't listen and wouldn't try to understand how it works. That's why I decided to write, it's not like the media will ever care enough to cover the facts fairly.

Hey, how much do you charge for mixing and mastering? Haha, I have a punk rock project and record all the parts by myself in my spare time. However, I have yet to learn how to do proper mixing and mastering to get the best out of what I have.
