Why I quit Facebook and other social media and why you should too!

"The happiest person in the world is probably not on Facebook"

It's really common nowadays. I'm talking about addiction to social media (mostly Facebook). People spend so many hours everyday on Facebook, absorbing useless information, trying to be someone else, sharing their personal life, having fake friends, recycling hundreds of memes.

I could go on but you get the point. Facebook is not going to improve your life in any way. It's only going to consume your quality time. Time is the most valuable "currency" you have on your hands and Facebook only takes it away without giving anything of value in return.

Would you throw away some of your money everyday ? I guess not. Then why would you throw away your time everyday ? Time is more valuable then your money so use it to the fullest.

Stop wasting time on useless shit like social media. Before joining Steemit, I as well didn't realize how much of my time was wasted on these social medias. Steemit is considered a social media but it's different.

There's so much useful information, so many interesting people and the time you spend here is going to provide you value. You can earn money for interacting and posting content.

There's no such social media like Steemit, thus it's okay to be "addicted" to Steemit.

Facebook and other social media could potentially harm your communication skills. You can get used to connecting with your friends or even stranger trough social media.

You'd be doing this all the time from the comfort of your home without the need to get out and communicate face to face. Without leaving your comfort zone and talking to new people.

The more you stay in your comfort zone, the more you will be afraid to actually leave it. You will simply be afraid to be around people.

You think social media hasn't affected your ability to communicate ? You think that you find it easy to communicate with friends or even strangers ?

Well, I bet you're wrong on this one. Why, you ask ? Because we have forgotten how to communicate with people, with our friends. We forgotten how to have a deeper conversation without first drinking a lot of alcohol and getting drunk.

How much time do you spend on your phone, on Facebook while you're with your group of friends ? Every time a group of friends meet, they are consumed by their phone, thus making conversations dull and boring because there's barely anyone talking to each other.

"Hey look at this meme and let's laugh together!". Everyone is just showing memes to each other but never any useful information because all they want to see is memes that relate to themselves.

If you would try to show something actually useful, nobody would give a fuck because like I've said, everyone is interested in useless memes. This generation is simply obsessed with memes and that's not a good thing at all. Waste of fucking time

Also, a lot of people are addicted to getting likes on every social media. Having hundreds of followers is what everyone is aiming at, although it's not even giving them anything.

Or is it ? It's giving them the feeling of approval. The feeling of popularity. It's as if 100 likes on your newest picture makes you better than everyone else who get 10 likes on their photo or any other post.

But in the end, it's all useless. all those likes and followers. Unless you manage to leverage that and make money in some way. But other than that, it's a waste of time. Waste of your life. You could be doing much better things in your life.

There's so many other ways to spend your time which will provide something valuable to your life. Meditate, read books, exercise, go outside, meet new people, create something, blog, make videos, learn something new, attain new hobbies, BE FUCKING AWESOME.

It's all about you. You are your own limitation. If you think you can't do anything then you won't be able to do anything other than surf social media all day. But you can do whatever the fuck you want if you believe you can do it.

I'm not telling you to delete all your social media accounts. I haven't done that. I still use Facebook for connecting with friends trough messenger. But I spend like 5 minutes on Facebook itself on average.

I still want to see the photos or videos my friends share so deleting my accounts is not an option. You just have to stay away from spending too much time on it. Remember, if it's not providing you any value, it's not worth spending your "currency".

I hope this can open your eyes a bit :)

Great points. I particularly liked this one:

"We forgotten how to have a deeper conversation without first drinking a lot of alcohol and getting drunk."

If you want to read more about how the younger generations have lost most of their social skills thanks to technology, check out Aziz Ansari's book "Modern Romance". It goes into great depth about how millenials and younger are incapable of even basic human interactions like a phone call. All they can do is text, and rather pathetically poorly at that.

I will check it out when I have some free time!

Back in 2011 I deleted every one of my social media accounts and went on a one year fast off of my computer, I didn't need it for my job, so I had no temptations. I also gave away my smartphone and haven't had any smartphones since. I have a $5.00 cellular phone with a $100.00 year plan with 900 minutes with rollover minutes, text messaging cost 2 minutes. We hardly ever use our phones! I think everyone should take a break from digital communication and don't go out with your smart phones!

I grew up without digital media and 24/7 entertainment, my world was a lot less stressful and simple. I found the healthiest way to live is to keep it simple!

Resteemed!

Yes digital communication reduces your skills to actually communicate with people face to face. Smartphones are doing no good when you're with friends because everyone is just surfing Facebook and other social media leaving any deep conversations out.

reality mam we always go out with mobile our life is now entertainless no fun nothing just we use mobile phones everytime ever relationships got lost because of it :/ very sad truth

Sadly, this is the world we live in :/

I am quit from facebookk...because it not same with steemit..., in steemit ..every user can be happy...and very...very amazing...
