11 days on Facebook: results on Steemit Official Page!steemCreated with Sketch.

in #facebook7 years ago (edited)

So many of you have seen my posts that I am putting a lot of work in attracting Facebook users to Steemit, by using their own platform: Facebook!

Therefore I would like to share the results of this with you guys, because I think it is very interesting to know who is using Steemit, who is using Facebook and who is replying most on the Facebook account.

  1. First, I started off by creating the page on June 9th https://www.facebook.com/SteemitOfficial
If you haven't already, check it out.

  2. After this, I rewarded some first contributors by posting their Steemit posts on our Facebook page. This increases their reach of audience and at the same time increases the power of our Facebook page. This way we're also reaching the Facebook audience.

  3. I asked Steemers to like the page and leave a review.

This approach works and got the #Facebook page rolling!

Now, these are the results after only 11 days!

Results

  • Reach of 4.700 people
  • Likes and other interactions: 2.500 people
  • Total page followers: 19 only!
  • Total # of posts: 53
  • People who follow: 26% Women, 74% Men

Country

  • United States of America: 17
  • India: 13
  • Australia: 5
  • Malaysia: 2
  • Netherlands: 2
  • Canada: 2
  • South Korea: 2
  • Bangladesh: 1
  • Hungary: 1
  • Panama: 1

I have spent many of my earned SBD / Steem into the adverts on the Steemit Official Facebook page, just to let it grow and increase.
I hope you will all help me on my queste. If you guys like it, I will keep the weekly updates and insights coming. There are a few simple things YOU can do to help me.

  1. Upvote & resteem this post
  2. If you want to share a quality post on our Facebook, leave it in the comments and I'll put it on
  3. Like the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/SteemitOfficial
  4. Leave a review on the Facebook page
  5. Invite your friends to our Facebook page and introduce them to our #Steemit Community!

Thank you all for your help & effort to make this happen,

Hey @steve-speaks, good work.

So the reach for the ads was 4,700 and you received only 19 likes? Did I get this right or not?

Anyways I believe it'd be best to have the ad directed to an external URL which explains in detail what Steemit is, for my ad I'm using a post by @timcliff which you can find here: https://steemit.com/steemit/@timcliff/you-should-join-steemit-here-is-why

For targeting, I'd recommend targeting people who are interested in blogging in general or social networks as a start, I'd advise against broad targeting if you're running on a limited budget.

So I'd be targeting people who are interested in: Wordpress, blogger, tumblr, instagram, woocommerce, ecommerce, wix, joomla, drupal, and so on.

There's also a great difference when it comes to CPC for each countries, for instance EU countries have an average CPC of about $0.4 to $0.5, also my tests showed that some Asian countries have a lot lower CPC.

Try to test multiple posts / images and see how they perform, remove ones with weak performance and any ad that gets below than 0.5% CTR should be removed.

I'll be posting an update for my campaign today and it should include some tips that will help you with this campaign.

Feel free to reach me on Steemit.chat, my username is moataz.

All the best and Steem on! :)

Thanks for your extensive explanation! That helps a lot. I too noticed the differences in CPC, even between men / women from the same region?

I'm gonna test more and more, looking into your advises. You're gonna hear from me on Steem.Chat!

Keep in touch @moataz

You're very welcome @steve-speaks and I'm glad I could help a bit. I haven't done any gender based testing but it would be worth it I believe.

Looking forward to talk to you :)

What does "Official" mean to you?

Official means that this is the official account of the Steemit platform. As a community and as the early users of this platform, I believe we are responsible to have an Official Facebook account and lead it in the best possible way.

If and when the owner / inventor of Steemit - Ned Scott- comes up to me, I will gladly hand over the admin rights to this account :)

I strongly disagree with your use of "official" here. Official, to me, would mean sanctioned by the originating organization.

If and when the owner / inventor of Steemit - Ned Scott- comes up to me, I will gladly hand over the admin rights to this account :)

I could read this as "if and when something happens which would actually make this the official Steemit Facebook page..."

To me, what you're doing is fraudulent. You're currently pretending to be something you are not.

I understand your criticism and concern. You are free to disagree.

Now I would like to add that when someone from Steemit came up to me right now, I would accept to pull out the plug of this Facebook page.

However, my intentions are good and I'm doing no harm. In the case that no one steps up, maybe there are no real "admins" on Steemit and is this also a revolutionizing form of decentralized platform, where users are monitoring the platform and trying to make it better by creating these kind of pages.

What is the "official" steemit blog on Steemit?

What makes it "official"?

If you can answer that question then you might see why I take issue with what you are doing. I suggest until your Facebook group is actually "official" in that same sense, you change its name to avoid appearing fraudulent.

This is the same reason Twitter has verified accounts, so people can't claim to be something they are not.

Facebook also has Verified accounts. In my opinion, people see that it's not verified so it's not fraudulent in any way.

On the contrary, Facebook's lack of verification points out that your claim is, in fact, false. This is not the official Facebook Steemit group.

I don't see the point in discussing this with you further. Do as you will. In my opinion, you are misrepresenting yourself and the group.

keep informing though I don't know much about it
