During all the years of his adult life, Juan was fishing in the lake next to the cabin of the forest where he lived with his family. Every day he wake up at dawn, take his fishing rod and his bucket, go to the pier and return to the heat of the home with the sunset. He always came back with the bucket full of fish.

The lake, of considerable length, congregated to other fishermen of the surroundings that also crossed it from top to bottom calmly with its canoes; None had a fixed fishing site since they had reached that agreement between them.

However, of all those who met there, Juan was the one who fished the most every day.

The rest of the fishermen gave him the good mornings with suspicion to him because they had some envy that he was the one that more fished out; Even they began to think that Juan had some trick for it.

One day, like so many others, an old Juan took his implements and went to the pier next to his young son, whom would soon leave both his job and the rest of his goods.

As they sailed and fished calmly, one of the many fishermen approached them, asking themselves what would be the Juan's trick.

-How can you fish so much, Juan? You have to use some kind of special bait or to have some secret for it...-said the fisherman sulky.

-I use the same bait as yourselves, with the same rudimentary fishing rod as you and I navigate in the same area, so what kind of trick is there?-answered Juan.

-We do not believe you Juan; No one is fishing as much as you, and although we observe you, we have not yet discovered your secret, but sooner or later we shall discover it and throw you out of the lake-he said to him exalted.

-The only secret that I've been practicing all my life is to focus on my work and stop worrying about what others catch or do not catch, how you do...-he asked.

Already back in the cabin at night and next to the heat of the chimney's fire, the son of Juan asked to this one:

-Father, will you tell me the secret that you did not tell the rest of the fishermen to be able to be as good fisherman as you are some day?-He said as he looked expectantly at him.

-But son, I told the truth to these men; There is no greater secret to success in this life than to focus on your work, set your goals and stop wasting time by looking at what they do or stop doing others, what they achieve or fail to achieve. Work hard and your achievements will be the envy of others-He advised him sweetly as he stroked his hair.

After the death of Juan, his son took over and, following the secret of his father, he became the fisherman who fished the most.

The descendants of the other fishermen also followed for their part the legacy of their parents and envy the results of the son of Juan questioning what would be the true secret that Juan had bequeathed to his son.
