Powerdown Statistics #7 - March 15th - March 28th - Inflation of STEEM is accurate again! Yes!

Every two weeks or so I like to compare the current power down statistics and see how we stand.

Here they are:

15 March 2019

STEEMAmount
STEEMPOWER199,4 million
LIQUID STEEM105,3 million
SBD9 million

28th March 2019

STEEMAmount
STEEMPOWER198,8 million (-0,6 million)
LIQUID STEEM106,8 million (+1,5 million)
SBD9 million (0 million)

What I expected last time has finally happened!

SBD conversion to STEEM has almost completely stopped because of the increase in STEEM price.

Fantastic!

This means that the inflation of STEEM is accurate again at around 8% (and going down with 0,5% every year).

(Remember that inflation number because there are still old rumours going around that STEEM inflation is a 160%+ a year and I would love to take that rumour down.)

For now, If STEEM can maintain these higher levels (or more) we should be out of the woods.

Exyle, does the Steem blockchain overcompensate the big inflationnumbers we saw the last ~6 months to the downside?

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think so.

Love the analysis, but I'm wondering if that 160% comes from including SBD? I tried hunting a bit on the Max supply and creation, and wasn't able to come up with much, I did find this

Which just leaves more questions... lol.

It used to be 160% back in the day, but it was changed with a HardFork pretty early on.

Haha... 160%, that is funny! That is good that things have started to stabilize. It is nice to see SBD hovering right around that $1 mark.

Hey @exyle

Can you point me to an easy explanation for steem inflation..

If we started year 1 at 100 steem produced whats expected for coming years

And how is it compared with other cryptos ??

This table was from before the massive SBD conversion. But it gives the general idea of how it works.

Currently there are 305,619,755 STEEM out there and 9,000,000 SBD.

Tks , much appreciated.

How do you feel about never ending supply ?

It's fine imho. Without it the reward pool wouldn't work and it's not a terrible big amount. A little over double what we have now in 20 years.

Do you know why we have 1.5 million new steem on the market?

There wasn't 1.5 million new STEEM created. Half a million came from power downs.

At current inflation about 25 million STEEM are created in a year. That's roughly 0,5 million per week.

I make these posts every 2 weeks so that equals ~1 million STEEM.

Thanks for the hopeful information brother. How is your daddy? Say me hello to everyone!

Growing rightly as expected thanks for sharing the stats

Most steemians and other crypto people outside steem community believed that steem inflation rate yearly is more than 100%.

Good gracious! 160%? It’s all good knowing that we could forecast and make informed decisions. In a short while the power down statistics will prove otherwise.
