Wow, your work must be earning a lot!!!

As my previous post has mention about my job, I am a freelance in event industry. More specifically, I am doing stage sound, light and visual. Which is typically you will see us setting up for concert, wedding, conference, private party and so on.

I have been in this industry for several years on and off. So for m, I have seen a lot good and bad things in this industry for sure.

For this first post about my job, i want to share experience about others perception with my job scope.

Just like titles, most of people that I met will assume that i am earning a lot. Well, this term earning a lot is they estimate i can earn MYR 6000~8000 per month. But the reality is i only earn MYR 2000~2500 per month with non stop working all year long.

Photo above is a show that i done last week, which is Kota Kinabalu Jazz Festival. This setup which took me and crew whole week to do the setup. Sometimes, we are working 24 hrs non stop to done the setup. As technical team, our rate is just MYR 10~15 per hour. Yes, it is the price.

But for sure, if you are expert in this area, such as sound engineer whose handling big concert, their price can go higher. I have heard one sound engineer that their price range is MYR2000~5000 per day.
