I always find it hilarious when corporate interests like the MPAA tell people, "If you don't pay full price for your movies and games, you're only hurting the artists and performers and writers behind the scenes"...
But they (the MPAA) obviously don't give two flips about those same artists, performers, and writers (screwing them over on zero overtime pay and strong-arming labor unions (especially writers) whenever possible).
The MPAA is a far more nefarious organization than most realize. I remember an old doc "This Film is Not Yet Rated" that went into it in a documentary way.....
Not only have the MPAA screwed over the ones you mentioned, they have gone a long way to shape this society.

They sell you a story, "just be yourself and if you're exceptional, COPYRIGHT will protect you and your ideas and you'll be RICH!!"
But as a matter of fact, COPYRIGHT is nothing but a bludgeon the RICH MONOPOLIES use to destroy (extort) individual artists, writers, and performers.
If you're rich it's because you're super talented and if you're poor it's because you're worthless and your ideas are worthless.
They've even convinced vigilantes to WORK FOR FREE here on steemit, meting out punishments to anyone who dares post a quote or an image that may have been posted somewhere else before...
