SpringRole Shakes up the Employment Process

in #ethereum6 years ago (edited)

Despite the wealth of information accessible at the tip of our fingers, Information asymmetry remains widespread in today's world. Information asymmetry refers to any interaction in which one party has a greater degree of knowledge, which directly impacts the interaction, than the other party. Information asymmetry is hazardous to almost every industry and, for the most part, it's taken as something that can be countered. However, blockchain technology is designed to bring transparency and many projects are leveraging this feature to take a stand against information asymmetry in many industries. A new blockchain project offers the newest weapon against information asymmetry.

SpringRole is a platform that serves something like a LinkedIn on blockchain. The employment process is plagued with misinformation; more than half of the population has placed inaccurate information on its Resume or CV.

The direct result of this is that companies rely on internal recommendations as those are credible sources of seeking new candidates. This had lead to the proverbial saying, "It's about who you know, not what you know." But clearly, this system is broken. A person's knowledge and capabilities should matter more than his or her social or professional circle. And now SpringRole is about to make this a reality.

The Benefits

SpringRole is going to make sure employers can trust the information provided to them by candidates. It achieves this by providing a platform where every claim an individual makes need to be verified. So, all claims of degrees and certificates could be directly verified by the issuing institutions; all claims of past work experiences would need to be verified by the involved companies. SpringRole incentivizes those companies to participate in verification as it allows them to earn SPRING tokens. Additionally, it's in the best interest of an academic institute to ensure all those graduate from it have some means to easily prove that they graduated from that institute; this way unqualified individuals who never attended the institute but are making false claims are stopped from damaging the institute's reputation. SpringRole also holds several other important benefits.

  • Companies face heavy losses every time they end up hiring an unqualified person. SpringRole allows individuals to be endorsed by others, and these endorsements allow companies to strain out the qualified.

  • Heavy amounts of resources are expensed to verify information about candidates. With SpringRole, it becomes extremely easy for employers and educational institutes to verify a person's information and this verification is securely stored on the blockchain.

  • Companies are presently forced to limit their search to internal references for nearly a third of all hires. SpringRole would provide the credibility necessary to screen candidates from an open pool, thereby bringing opportunities who rightfully deserve them and allowing companies to hire those who have been verified as the most qualified.

Wrap-Up: SpringRole is a project that is putting the transparent nature of the blockchain to a very natural and beneficial utility as it attempts to end information asymmetry in the employment process.

https://springrole.com already bring transparency to employment. I think empmoyees and employers both will benefit equally by spring role. Because freelancer on springrole will get an endorsement by the company. They do work through the springrole protocol, which ensures all profile and endorsment are verified and real.Workcoin will be integrated into springrole which will allow freelancers to offer services directly from their spring role profile. so employers can hire best man easily by not wasting much money and time. And employees can get best offer from directly from employers. @hatu

The system is up in prototype phase. Not exactly delivering transparency yet, but it will soon.

But yes, it'd soon completely change the interaction between employers and candidates.

Definitely, the employment industry needs more transparency. It is necessary to have some means or resource that validates the degrees of education, skills and work experiences of the future candidates to work in a company (futures employees). I think that neither Facebook, not Google are enough to check an employee's skills. Many times on LinkedIn one can simply lie by saying that you know someone and for convenience indicate that his/her information is real. I think that SpringRole provides transparency to both the employee and the employers, since their work experiences can be corroborated and confirmed by employers. The excellent thing about SpringRole is that the verification system will ensure that the information is genuine and this leads to a certification of that information, be it through an institution, an employer or a certification course; once this is done, the information is stored permanently in the blockchain. And nobody can erase that. Not fire nor time.

Every day it is impressive to discover the benefits of the blockchain

You struck an important tune. People may perceive transparency in employment as only a positive factor for employers. While transparency may not be good for many job applicants, it will be a boon to those who are legitimately qualified.

And yes, this is a very good utility of thr blockchain in the employment industry.

Yes, SpringRole will definitely be extremely valuable to many companies. In this piece, I detail the benefits it offers to companies AND workers. It's important to note that this platform benefits all participants involved in the employment process.

A very good idea.

It certainly is! I always have a deep interest in projects that attempt to counter information asymmetry in any industry. It's one of the most natural utilities of blockchain technology. SpringRole is bringing transparency to an extremely important process (employment).

amazing articles!! Great Job!!

Thank you! :)
I tried my best and I realized there's plenty of amazing value additives offered by SpringRole so it wasn't hard to make the piece captivating.

  1. Employment industry surely needs more transparency. At the moment, companies are not transparent about pay structures, role requirements, team culture and the feedback about companies on most free sites is not proper. Candidates or employees on the other hand exaggerate their achievements, lie about their skill-set etc. While reference checks can reveal a lot of true information, they are not 100% efficient. Lastly, recruitment consultants, assessing human skills by matching words on a CV to words on a job spec - highly inefficient way of hiring. Moreover, they also have a conflict of interest as they are more keen on filling a job than finding the right match. There is a lot that needs to be done to make hiring transparent. We need eharmony for recruitment - a scientific approach to matching candidates to the right job.

  2. From the article, i can say that spring role benefits employers more than employees but if employees could get access to attrition rates of the company, management tenor at the company or exit interview stats, the platform could be equally beneficial for both employers and employees.

  3. The idea is great. Spring role definitely adds value to a broken system that needs fixing. Transparency should attract users and employers and pre done reference checks would make hiring more efficient and fast for companies. If there can be a mathematical rating score for both employers and employees, this is a great platform.

Wow, this is a mouthful.

So, here's my take:
You mentioned something very important. HR really does screen application files by screening for specific words. I disagree on one thing; that is a very efficient way of cutting down candidates. But it is the most ineffective way of doing so.

A scientific approach may be achievable now that profiles be authentic.

As for the transparency factors you mentioned for employees, I believe a project called Grain is doing that. Perhaps SpringRole and Grain could partner up and provide a more complete set of transparency.
