The Future Unfolding: Ethereum, and why I'm STILL rooting for it above all else.

in #ethereum5 years ago

You are all bright minds here, mostly, and I wanted to share some ideas with you that I've been thinking about.

Like many of you, I was drawn to Ethereum because of very passionate desires for the future of mankind, as well as my own. We can't forget the purposes with which we act for in this space.

I'm vowing to let my words and actions better reflect the kind of world that I think we should explore in the future. Ethereum was well represented in this hope by Vitalik, described it in his writtenn"Ethereum 6.0 response", which I've read a few times on my YouTube channel out-loud.

To see it all very slowly coming to life, is unreal, yet my concerns have grown with each passing day, because of increasing apathy that I've felt (and many have feel) as KYC/Tax-concerns/regulatory-concerns/much more, have become such distractions from the creative drives, in us, which burned to usher in this new platform (a.k.a. Ethereum, or Web3, or IoT) for governance, possibly even enabling fairer, censorship-resistant, verifiable interactions between humans & machines, into the future.

I want to imagine voluntaryist communities where I've opted onto (and maybe another blockchain is that community), where I'm not punished for leaving. I just miss out on that virtual economy.

I'm tired of gerrymandered nations, and city lines, that keep me from moving as I desire, because third parties have political agendas which my moving would violate.

I'm tired of paying a tax, unless it's for the fees in the network I use.

I'm ready to help drive forward the vision that many of us signed up, while focusing less on the bullshit. Let's speak up, and dream, people. Words and ideas matter. Don't let lack of money stop those two things that you can share for free, for the most part.

Thanks for reading. I just needed to get that out of my chest, and hope you'll consider why you started working in this space (even investing is working, because of your vested interest in it's success). When you get past the money and profits, what kind of future do you want to living, and do you want generations to possibly live in?

As I yell my dog Wallace, "think aboutttt itttt!"

Great minds are to make others great. Their superiority is to be used, not to break the multitude to intellectual vassalage, not to establish over them a spiritual tyranny, but to rouse them from lethargy, and to aid them to judge for themselves.

When I see someone blog on Steem from a place like Venezuela, and see them generate value through upvotes, that's all the reinforcement I need. As companies like Facebook, Twitter, and Google attempt to become everything to everyone, they will die under the weight of it.

Ethereum has so much being built on it, it's hard to ignore. I'd say that everyone at this stage of the game should strive to at least hold 32 ETH.

Ethereum is still the most exciting project out there in my opinion.

Not even Bitcoin has as many devs working on it. Hundreds of very valid projects building on-top, for pretty much anyt usecase you can think. Defi stack is shaping nicely, and in a couple of years could become the much searched for 'killer app'.

Some interesting gaming options arriving before too long as well - Neon District, Zombie Battlegrounds, Enjin Coin + Unity partnership, Decentraland, etc.

Scaling is the major concern, as it's taking a long time to figure out. Still, a lot of this can be mitigated through state channels + sidechains + Plasma (eg. see work being done by Funfair, Loom Network, OmiseGo Raiden, etc.)

I'm optimistic that within years Ethereum will 10x.

We are never in lack of money.

We lack people with dreams, who can die for those dreams

You are speaking the truth Omar and I can't agree more with xou about the future promises of Blockchain Technology.
It would be great to see full transparancy in our goverment leadership, no abuse of power anymore, no black budgets and black holes where our taxes dissapear, no more untrusted third parties who rip you off with ever transaction (banks) etc....
Yeah Blockchain is that technology to make it happen and people just need to take the chance and see the opportunuity here.
But as far as pur political and economy drama unfolds I think people will seek alternatives and Steem, Ethereum and co. are already proofen to be more "free" Networks than anything else what we have right now.
Peace and love my friends!

Reading this article just sparked a bit of an epiphany for me. I feel like the biggest (and best) promise of blockchain is the redistribution of wealth that will happen when the ones that win out become the only form of value used in the world.

For sure banks, and the huge powers behind them, will do everything they can to appropriate the tech. But when it's built into the code that the only fees that can be taken are set and get paid to those who perpetuate the BC, then those old school powers won't be able to manipulate the value in the way they do now.

A redistribution of both power and wealth, this is the dream... Ha ha, well it's my dream anyway.

Interesting post Omar.

Thanks @crypt0 for letting us know how enthusiastic you are about Ethereum, I’m glad and grateful that Steem has made your expression possible here even though you didn’t mention #Steem!

Let's speak up, and dream, people. Words and ideas matter. Don't let lack of money stop those two things that you can share for free, for the most part.

🖕That line up there means a whole lot to me!

Remain awesome as we all match into better tomorrow.

Central powers fight to stop the progress of crypto. We are in the right path for mass adoption. :)

...don't? lol

If you don't fight for the principle it means nothing, it's just words.
(fighting the system costs you. Like, as in real life hardship terms).

I wrote something on this earlier....
