I think it's cool that Russia is wanting to participate but I am concerned that this could be a negative, too. Why? Because this could could lead a cryptocurrency into more of a centralized direction, which is the opposite of what most want in the crypto world.

True, I agree with you there. However I think if some countries want to have a sort of digital centralized currency, it might not necessarily be called crypto. But, it would give credence to the blockchain and the trust issues behind it. things like ethereum can always be government proof I believe/hope, but if a dapp is built on the network and it wants to be centralized I'm just happy people are using it.

I think your point is well said. :) It's entirely possible that they could do this the right way and possibly work to be beneficial. Time will tell!
