【PR Newswire】VeriBlock Foundation Discloses MESS Vulnerability in Ethereum Classic Blockchain
As a strategy to deal with the 51% attack experienced several times, the Ethereum Classic community adopted MESS ("Modified Exponential Subjective Scoring") technology as a consensus mechanism last October.
Today, the VeriBlock® Blockchain team disclosed a critical security vulnerability in the MESS Ethereum Classic protocol that was disclosed to ETC developers last October, before the consensus technology was activated on the mainnet.
They describe how an attacker can exploit this vulnerability to permanently break the network into fragmented partitions, making it impossible for the blockchain to reach a global consensus.
