Getting around NYC
Getting around NYC
Now if you ever visit NYC and want to see all the sights or as many as you can in the time you have the Subway is a handy way to get around the city, so I thought in this post I would share a shot of some of the entrances to subway stations around the city, Starting with the 72nd Street station on the 1,2 and 3 Lines

The 72nd Street Station was opened in 1904 and renovated in 2002.
Not all the subway entrances are so grand of course, this is a common entrance to go down the stairs to the subway platforms, this station is on 14th Street

Now for some walking up or down stairs is tricky, fortunately many of the stations do have elevators for those who have difficulty using the stairs such as this one also for the 14th Street Station

And another subway stations stairs heading down from the sidewalk this one at 66th Street near the Lincoln Centre, as you can see some of the fences around subway entrances are used for advertising, I haven't tried the Oatmilk yet but I have seen plenty of ads in a similar style to this around the city.

And finishing off with another elevator down to the subway platforms this one at 86th Street

Who would have guessed that there are elevators down to the subway and this last one is very pretty!
I do have to admit its something i never expected to see when I came here
Thanks for the resteem appreciated
Oh! this is a very interesting fact, @tattoodjay .I would never have thought that this descent into the subway, if you do not read the sign :))
these entrances look very unusual for the subway, but I liked that you can go down the Elevator instead of the usual escalator for us.
Sometimes escalators tire me too much because some stations in St. Petersburg are very deep , if the branch passes under the Neva. Therefore, the descent on the escalator takes a long time and the descent on the Elevator in this case I would be faster.
Thank you for interesting photos and useful information. Now I'll know about it :))
Many of the Subway stations here are very friendly to people who are challenged y lots of stairs with escalators and elevators, I generally try and use the stairs for exercise but some days I feel my age and make use of them :)
Thanks for your visit and kind comment
Awesome see the use of elevators on your subway.
I thinks that's why you're a first class country. Here on Mexico that is still a dream. People with troubles or incapable of use stairs on the sub should have to ask for help or use other type of transport.
Great photos and greetings my friend.

YEs that is one thing they do here well for the most part i must admit make as much s possible handicapped accessible
Thanks for your visit :)
It is really cool how they are just there in the middle of everything and they lead to their own world. It's like a city under the city.
Ohh yes it really is like a city under a city in some of the big stations. Have had friends and family get lost inside GRand Central LOL

Want to have your post on the map too?
I always get to see them in the movies, would love to try it someday!
It was the same for me growing up I never ever thought one day I would be working here
How unique to see an elevator on a pavement for the subway, awesome photography of 86th Street!
This really is a first for me, I have seen stairs and escalators never an elevator thanks for an educational post to an African :)
Thanks for your visit and kind words, there’s quite a few stations with elevators here maybe i need to get shots of more of them and do a post just on them :)
Of all the stations I would love to see Grand Central, read the history and see it so often in video or movies, such an impressive building.
Getting to be a 'mole' under the ground I find the elevators popping up on pavement quite bizarre and interesting, look forward to seeing future posts JJ.
I must admit the 59th Street Bridge and Grand Central were tow places I went and saw on the first day I got here and neither of them were. Disappointment I Must say and I still love them both
Must be hot as hell down there this time of the year....😘
Ohh yeah during the heatwave I was glad to not have to travel on the subway when they get busy you feel like a sardine in a can already in the oven
