Gunung Gadung Fortress is located in the Village of Sukajaya, Pasirlaja, District of Sumedang Selatan, West Java.

Gunung Gadung Fortress

Gunung Gadung Fortress in Pasirlaja, similar to other Dutch relics in Semedang, a fortress or post-military military installation was built during World War I, or roughly built around 1918s. Unlike the fortress at Pasirkolecer which consists of two buildings, the gadung mountain fortress in Pasirlaja consists of three buildings that are close together.

The three buildings of the Dutch heritage fortress lined up or lined up in a descending position and to begin entering it there were no special signs such as fences, entrances or anything else. The first fortress of the building is at the top of a single fortress with one door, reinforced concrete construction equipped with stairs to the door is still firmly established until now even though the walls appear to be blackened and mossy with age.

This second fort is exactly the same as one of the fortresses in Pasirkolecer, except that there is a step on the steps to get to the bafian above the fortress. Seeing his position, this third fortress was right under the second fortress but because some of the buildings from this fort had been buried in the ground. It is unfortunate that it is said that this third fort is buried in land less than 1.5 meters in height so that only the top is visible. A door found in this third fortress only looked like a small window.

This fort has several functions for the Dutch military in the past, in addition to the resting place of the officers, these three forts were also used as storage of weapons, and because they were located in the highlands this fort also served as a fortress of reconnaissance.
