RE: Do we need offsides in soccer?
hahaha i will come back to read. Funny how i used to think of this when i was younger and for many sports. Feels most sports have some of this. Offside, it used to seem like one of those un-needed rules but i see why it exists. One thing that will help one understand why it is needed better is know what an offside it. Many still miscalculate it. It is a bit comparable to my feelings about 'travelling' in basketball and sometimes wondering how James Harden in travel with his multiple stepbacks
I think that consistency is a huge part with any of these rules. I played basketball in school and college and travelling was one of the rules that had different applications with different refs. It can be frustrating that a player can do steps and jumps in one game which another ref might call.
I tend to get very frustrated with the technical fouls as they feel unnecessary even though they are part of the game. I only see a foul when a player get taken out of the game and everything else is play on.... but the rules are there and they make the games what they are.
