Wedding Party

Just this past week one of my first cousins tied the knot and we threw the couple a post wedding dinner in our house. It was a small dinner party of about 80-90 people mostly relatives to celebrate the newlywed couple. The setup was in our garage and the transformation was absolutely surreal. This all looked wonderful but was a lot of stressful and nonstop work behind the arrangement of such magnitude.

There was also a small sitting area for the couple to take pictures, we the subcontinent people have a lot of ceremonies. Each family member comes up to the couple and give them a present of sorts and feed them the traditional sweets. Unfortunately I didn’t have time to take pictures during the whole ceremony because I was responsible for the food and to setup the food stall and make sure everyone gets everything with nobody missing out on the Biryani, Korma and Halwa. People of the west make sure to eat these dishes at least once especially Biryani. Biryani is like a piece of food from heaven on Earth the deliciousness is unparalleled. It was my job to keep everyone happy by providing them these yummy dishes.

The gathering was great a change which was needed, all age groups of people interacted with each other. With the busy schedule everyone has nowadays it’s really hard to meet or close relatives every week or so. People cracked jokes had a good time the positive vibes were imminent. My cousin was also really happy with the warm welcome that she and her husband had from our family. These are the gatherings that strengthens the bond between a family, this is really needed especially for our family which is big.
