Let’s take a boat in Vietnam!

I am sooo hungry!! Is the first thing that went through my head after finishing the honey tea I talked about in my previous post. Having arrived on a beautiful island in the middle of the Mekong Delta it was time to get some fresh food. Luckily the tour guide knew just the place where we could satisfy that hunger. We walked up to a local restaurant where some musicians were making live music and the restaurant owner came and put this on the table;

Most of them fresh fruits and some of them a little sour. But the sour ones are supposed to taste like that. In the middle you can see some rock salt and some black pepper. These were used as dip for the sour fruits. I had not yet experienced such a thing. Going from sweet to sour and back was a nice way to eat. It was a great snack. After listening to the music for some time and letting the lunch settle it was time to move on towards the next place;

These boats were going to take me there. With four people in every boat and two rowers it was easy to go fast. But because the small river was filled with boats filled with tourists and also empty boats it was like a traffic jam. An interesting experience to be sure

As you can see here it is quite busy on the river. While taking this photo I even spotted a wild snake on one of the riversides but you can unfortunately not see it in the picture. I am a bit scared for snakes I must admit. But with some water in between there was no reason to further worry myself about this.
