The Sanctuary: Chapter 5
Chapter 5
A hundred years after the Sanctuary was discovered, humanity was able to successfully create the very first immersive virtual world. At first it was just used for entertainment, but as technology advances, the virtual world become more realistics. And before long, the world government decided to use the virtual world as place to train the "blessed."
This particular virtual world is only accessable to "blessed" individuals, though it did allow civilians to watch the matches on the arena by paying certain fees. Using this method, not only does the "blessed" have a place to train, and fight, the ones running the virtual world A.K.A the world government can also get some much needed fundings!

Upon entering the virtual world, Dylan was greeted by a beautiful female virtual assistant. The virtual assistant then asked Dylan where he wanted to go, of which he replied, "the Arena!"
Dylan's vision darkened, when the light returned he found himself inside a large, and majestic building. There he saw a large number of people scattered around, and doing their own things.
No one took noticed of Dylan as he walked towards a receptionist to register. After registering he went to the waiting room while he waits for his opponent. Inside the waiting room he don a mask to hide his real appearance. Due to the rule of the virtual world, users are forced to use their real life appearance. Fortunately, there are lots of ways to hide one's appearance in the virtual world. Of course these cost money as well. Because of this, there were rumors that state that the reason users cannot customize their appearance when first creating an account is so they could charge their users! Dylan strongly believed that these rumors are in actuality, facts.
While waiting for his match, Dylan browses at the ongoing matches. But because there are hundreds of thousands of matches currently airing, he needed to look for a specific category. Before long he found a match that interest him. It was a match in the elite category between a masked girl, and a muscle-bound, axe-wielding guy.
The match is quite intense but it's obvious from the fight that the masked girl is at an advantage. Her movement technique is short of amazing, and the axe-wielding guy can't even touch her clothes. But what's more terrifying are the ice crystals that surrounds the both of them. The masked girl have no problem moving inside the ice crystals but the axe-wielding guy is having a major headache! Not only do those crystals block his sight, it he is also being sliwed down.
"I think this axe guy is about to cry. He's so unlucky to be matched with somebody that suppresses his strong points," Dylan murmured. "I hope I won't be as unlucky," he added.
Before long the axe guy turned into a giant icicle, and the match ended. Dylan was truly awed by the match, especially by the girl's ability to control ice. "Ice? Somehow he reminded me of our school's ice goddess. Could it be her?" Dylan thought as he looked at her username. "Cold Girl? Quite the fitting name, but what sort of girl would name themselves that? Is it because of her ice power or she's a cold person in real life?" Dylan asked in his thought while contemplating.
Unfortunately, Dylan could not ask her this questions. As he was deep in thought, an alarm sounded, signaling that his match is about to begin as he was suddenly teleported to the arena stage.

At the Arena stage, Dylan observed his surrounding, and notices that there are very few audience. Well, he actually expected this as this is just an E-class match, and not the elite match. But Dylan's not affected by this as this was the case for all his previous matches. He then looked at his opponent.
He noticed that his opponent was using a half mask to cover half of his face. But what's noticeable is the smirk of derision on his lips. Dylan frowned after noticing this. It seemed his opponent was looking down on him.
Without saying anything, Dylan summoned a twin knife. And then got into his stance. Seeing this his opponent merely snort while looking bored. He too summoned his weapon, and it's a sword. Dylan waited for his opponent to take his stance but he merely stood there with bored look. He even yawn to declare his point!
Dylan's eyes turned cold, at his opponent's disrespect. But he didn,t say anything, instead he initiate an attack to test the water!
