Parque La Paloma, or Park of the Doves is a park with a difference. TripAdvisor has it down as one of the 25 most beautiful parks in Europe. It is over 200,000 square meters and is home to not only flowers and trees, it is also home to a host of animals – pigeons, doves, parrots, birds, rabbits, peacocks, hens, roosters, goats and donkeys...
The Park is about ten minutes from where I am, so I had a wonder around it the other day. I will definitely be coming here more often. I need the exercise. Besides, watching the ‘residents’ go about their lives is a curiosity.
This man-made lake is home to swans, ducks, turtles, carps...
There is a cactus park which supposedly has about 400 different species of cactus and succulents.
A cafeteria cum gift shop for when you are thirsty or peckish after a walk, or if you want to take home some souvenir of the place.
There is a children's playground.
And if you are jogging in the park and need some muscle building exercises, there are these exercise stations.
And here are some of the residents of the place. A goat pen with about a dozen goats.
Chickens made up a majority of the residents in the park. Here is a rooster. Hundreds of them around. You hear them crowing throughout the day. After a while, it can get a bit much.
I will take more pictures when I visit again. It is not easy to take good pictures with a phone camera in the hot sun, and also, the birds don't stay around while you focus your camera. Most of the pictures I took the other day didn't turn out well.

This looks like a really exciting park, Parque La Paloma has everything to keep you entertained and cool cactus too!
Goats and chickens even - it’s a veritable day out on the farm - and a lovely sunny one too. Looks like you had a great day.
