Time - Micro fiction
Did you know kids, that there is a certain time that if you go down to the back fields. Way down to where the hawthorns grow in a ring. Only if you are in the right place at the right time will you be able to see the little folk.
“The little folk?” They both chirped in unison.
Aye.
Those magic folk that are always up to devilment. While they are not evil, you should always stay on the right side of them. Many a person has disappeared during the night after insulting one of them.
I met them myself once. It was three hours past midnight and I on my way back from town. Thinking to take a shortcut it brought me right through the hawthorn circle and straight into a group celebrating their own festival. Not wanting to offend them I stayed to celebrate it too.
What you have to remember is that no matter what they offer you to never touch a drop of drink or crumb of food. If you dine with them, the story goes that you will be stuck with them for ever more.
Why I could still be there right now, trapped in their world. Unknown to anybody if I had touched even a single drop of that beautiful golden delicious nectar.......
