Thai photography contest: Quiet walk along the river, เดินเล่นอย่างเงียบสงบริมแม่น้ำ

Life by the river is very simple and peaceful with predictable routine and a high level of certainty. This aspect makes me feel very stable and much more secured amidst the extremely dynamic world.

The good thing about having several cats is that they seem to be good at policing the field mice, scorpions and crawling animals including small snakes. Having to feed these cats twice a day also gives structure to the routine. Gardening is also very good for walking exercises around the garden. I like to water the garden under the full moon with fresh cool air. During dark nights I enjoy looking up at all the twinkling stars while watering the lawn and mango trees.

The evening walk by the river is a regular habit as I always anticipate the colours of the sunset and the level of the water in the river. Sometimes the sun is just flat red like a strawberry hanging in the sky, sometimes it is like a big hot orange with lots of yellow and golden rays. But, sometimes the sky is too heavy with clouds and we cannot spot the sun at all. The colours could become very weird and melancholy. I like to see the thin boats floating on the still sheet of water. Things become very quiet and time seems to slow down a little. I could have a nice walk and a conversation with the sky, river and mountains far away.

ชีวิตริมแม่นํ้าที่บ้านสวนเป็นอะไรที่เรียบง่ายและสงบมาก กิจวัตรประจำวันค่อนข้างแน่นอนและเป็นระบบ ทำให้ชีวิตมีความมั่นคงมากขึ้นในระดับหนึ่ง ท่ามกลางความเปลี่ยนแปลงอย่างรวดเร็วของโลกปัจจุบัน การมีแมวหลายตัวมีคุณประโยชน์มาก มันคอยข่วยดูแลไม่ให้หนูนามาเพ่นพ่านมากเกินไป และทำให้เราไม่พบแมงป่องและสัตว์เลื้อยคลานขนาดเล็ก และงูเหมือนแต่ก่อน การต้องเลี้ยงอาหารแมววันละสองครั้ง และการทำสวนทำให้ชีวิตมีจังหวะที่แน่นอน เราเองชอบรดน้ำสนามและต้นไม้ตอนกลางคืน เพราะอากาศเย็นสบาย แถมยังได้ดูพระจันทร์เต็มดวง ในคืนเดือนมืดเราก็มองดูดาวมากมายบนท้องฟ้า

ตอนเย็นเราไปออกกำลังกายเดินเล่นริมแม่น้ำ เราจะคอยดูว่าพระอาทิตย์ตกเป็นแบบไหนในแต่ละวัน เพราะมันไม่เคยซํ้ากันเลย บางวันพระอาทิตย์จะเหมือนลูกสตอเบอรี่สีแดงลอยนิ่งๆไม่มีการทอแสงเลย บางวันจะเหมือนส้มร้อนจัดและมีประกายสีเหลืองสีทองเต็มไปหมด บางวันท้องฟ้ามีแต่เมฆทำให้หาพระอาทิตย์ไม่เจอ และไม่รู้ว่าพระอาทิตย์ตกหรือยัง เราชอบดูเรือประมงลำเล็กลอยนิ่งบนแผ่นน้ำ บรรยากาศนิ่งสงบแต่แฝงความเศร้า เราเดินเล่นอย่างสงบ เป็นเวลาพักสมองและคุยทักทาย ท้องฟ้า แม่นํ้าและภูเขาที่ไกลออกไป
