Street Life Photography: Busy people around famous Temples, ผู้คนรอบๆวัดที่สำคัญในกรุงเทพ

This is my entry for #thaiphotocontest34, street life photography around famous temples in Bangkok.

I was on the bus traveling towards Sanam Luang where the Royal Grand Palace and Wat Prakaew or the Temple of the Emerald Buddha. The first photo was taken in front of Wat Pho or The Temple of the Reclining Buddha. Thais and tourists started to arrive at Wat Pho, it’s around New Year’s holiday here. Many Thais would go to temples to perform ceremonies and ask for New Year’s blessings. So, during the first few weeks of January, all famous temples would be very crowded.

Many street hawkers and tuk-tuk drivers would be vying for customers as this is the best time of the year to make good money! Personally I would avoid the parked tuk-tuk in front of the temple as the price asked is always far too high! But most tourists would rather pay for the convenience of not having to wait for available meter-taxi in the heat.

This photo was taken in front of Wat Prakaew (the Emerald Buddha temple). Hundreds of Chinese tourists have invaded the temple under their guides’ leadership. These guides had to use red flags on a long poles to lead their group around. I hope they did not manage to lose any of their group members.

ช่วงปีใหม่เราไปนั่งรถเมล์เล่นรอบๆเมืองรัตนโกสินทร์ เพื่อไปสนามหลวงและพิพิธภัณฑ์ เราก็ได้เห็นบรรยากาศข้างนอกวัดโพธิ์ ที่มีคนไทยและนักท่องเที่ยวต่างชาติเริ่มมาเที่ยวกัน. สำหรับคนไทยนั้น จะต้องไปวัดเพื่อทำบุญ และกราบไหว้พระพุทธรูปที่เก่าแก่มีชื่อเสียงเป็นที่รู้จัก เพื่อความเป็นศิริมงคล ที่วัดโพธิ์คนจะไปกราบพระนอนองค์ใหญ่ และพระนาคปรกในโบสถ์

เราเห็นรถสามล้อที่มารอดักนักท่องเที่ยวต่างชาติที่หน้าวัดเต็มไปหมด ช่วงเวลานี้เป็นช่วงที่หาเงินได้ง่ายและเร็ว พวกนี้จะไม่ค่อยรับส่งคนไทย และจะบอกราคาค่าโดยสารแพงจนเรารับไม่ได้ แต่นักท่องเที่ยวอาจจะยอมจ่ายเพื่อความสะดวก เพราะอากาศร้อนมากแล้วยังต้องมายืนคอยแท็กซี่ริมถนนอีก ไม่น่าสนุกเลย รถเมล์แล่นต่อไปถึงหน้าวัดพระแก้ว นักท่องเที่ยวชาวจีนร้อยกว่าคนเดินกันเต็มหน้าประตูวัด ไกดด์คนจีนต้องถือธงแดงสูงๆเพื่อให้ลูกทัวร์ตามกันมา เราก็หวังว่าคงไม่มีลูกทัวร์หลงทางท่ามกลางความโกลาหล รถเมล์เลี้ยวต่อไปยังสนามหลวงที่เราต้องลงไปเดินออกกำลังกายต่อไป
