Weekend Freewrite December 22 2018 Cracking Up

Cracking up is a phrase in the English language that can be taken a few ways.

People can laugh and said to be “cracking up” >>>

She was very funny, so we were cracking up.”

or

People can be falling apart and “cracking up” >>>

She’s cracking up because of personal problems, and not doing the work. We should take the project away from her.

Or

“Cracking up” might relate to maintenance >>>

The pavement is cracking up so we need to replace it.

I realize I have used this phrase in all of these ways and never once thought about it. Now I wonder if it is a phrase that stumps people when they learn English. Maybe @majes.tytyty will have thoughts on this and let me know.

Freewrite is always making me think about things I never have before.
