A Bit Of A Baby Boom Going On! Part 1
As the title says, there is a bit of a baby boom going on here. Baby bunnies that is! My daughter raises a few different breeds of rabbits and several are having litters. The photos in this post are of some of the mini rex rabbits and their babies also known as kits.
Coco and Babies
Coco is a chocolate mini rex and she, currently, has five babies. She has one broken black, two broken chocolate and two broken chocolate otters.
These next two photos were taken when their nest box was being spruced up. Cardboard goes in the bottom, then some pines shavings and timothy hay and mama fur.
Lin and Babies
Lin is a black mini rex and she, currently, has five babies. She has one broken blue and four broken black otters.
Momo and Baby
Momo is a black mini rex and, currently, only has one baby. She did have five but lost four due to the heat. It is really sad because she is such a great mommy. The heat is harder on rabbits and their babies than the cold. Momo pulled a lot of fur to cover her babies so my daughter took a little out but Momo pulled more (which they will do sometimes) and four of her babies did not make it. The one surviving baby is huge though because it is not having to share with feeding.
Here are some photos that show the size difference in Coco’s and Momo’s babies. They were born at about the same time. Momo’s baby is the black one in the photos.
This is part 1 which features the mini rex rabbits. In part 2, we'll check on a couple other mama rabbits and their little babies!

@deerjay How cute are those rabbits? My grandmother used to raise rabbits but we will not get into the details as to why. She was a true Southerner and we will leave it at that. :) But these are adorable.
How long has she been raising rabbits?
Thanks @ilsaione!! I can't really remember for sure but it has been at least two years.
I understand and am okay with it. She has a couple of those larger ones also but only for show. My family had just over forty rabbits growing up but they were all pets before finally getting them all separated..lol!
Oh how fun! They are precious! I used to raise a few rabbits back when we were farming and it was such fun to have babies!
Thanks so much Melinda!! That is so cool to know! I'm looking forward to a bit cooler weather, the heat has been hard on them but all the rain we had did help to keep the temps down some. It amazes me how wiggly the babies can be and a second later snuggle up in the hand! ;)
My daughter had a nest full of wild bunnies out in the middle of the front yard that succumbed to the heat. She tried to provide them with a little shade from the blazing sun, but it was still too hot for them. Makes me wonder what that mama was thinking.
That is really odd. Your daughter has a kind heart! Some of my daughter's rabbits are better moms than others and they are good at fostering too. In a way all the rain here helped keep some alive by keeping the temps down including the adults.
City rabbits! What can you say.
They are the cutest. Mixed ones look like Dalmations . :-)
Thanks so much @manorvillemike and they sure do! :)
Oh my goodness, baby bunnies everywhere!! They are adorabe - the ones with hair even more so lol. :)
Thanks @snowpea!! Yeah, the fur definitely adds to the cuteness!
Gorgeous photos @deerjay The markings on those rabbits are so beautiful and I can just imagine how much joy you and your family must enjoy having them around you and watching them grow and play. 🐇
Thank you @trudeehunter!! They are some pretty ones!
So tiny & adorable! xoxo
Thanks so much @debralee!! xoxo
