A focus stacked macro shot created from 64 separate images

  • Images taken with the Olympus E-M5II and 60mm macro lens
  • Stacked with Zerene Stacker
  • Edited with Capture One

Below is my camera setup for the shots

I held the larger orange coloured flower by hand so there was some movement of the background during the time the image stack was taken. This caused some slight swirling artifacts in the out of focus background of the final stacked image, but I think it looks quite nice.

Thanks for taking a look at my photography

Thank you, I am pleased you like it. I generally include a picture taken on my phone camera (second picture) that shows my proper camera set up. Firstly this shows how I composed the main image and secondly its shows proof that the image is mine if you check the image in the cameras screen display.

Beautifu shot!

This is a fantastic photograph. It is equally valuable and important that you have described and explained how you got the background to look the way that it does.
I will attempt to use this technique. Thanks for the pointers.

Thank you, I'm pleased you found it useful.

that's the way to do it.great photo.you'll never get everything in focus even at f22.you got to stack.

Thanks, I'm please you like it. I actually shot the stack of images at f/4 (f/8 equivalent on full frame), which is where this lens is sharpest. I rely on the focus stacking to increase my depth of field.

Yeah I do the same.usually f 5.6 orf 8 plus it gives nice bokeh for your background.
