in #esteem6 years ago

Good evening all, my post tonight about flowers, friend in steemit likes flowers, now I will share this evening, hopefully you like it ....... Yes ...
Lotus or lotus (Nelumbo nucifera Gaertn.) Is a species of annual aquatic plant of the genus Nelumbo originating from India. In Indonesia this plant is often called lotus (Nymphaea) even though in fact both are not related. The lotus has an upright flower stalk and the flower does not float on the surface of the water, as in the lotus. Seroja was once known as binomial Nelumbium speciosum (Willd.) Or Nymphaea nelumbo.

An empty tube-shaped stalk in the middle to travel through the air. Leaves are found on the surface of the water, coming out of the stems from the rhizomes that are in the mud at the bottom of a pond, river, or swamp. Plant height of about one meter to one and a half meters. ![image]() Leaves grow upward, high above the water surface. Full round-shaped leaves with no cuts, wavy at the edges, with the veins gathered in the middle of the leaf. Leaf diameter can reach 60 cm. The leaf surface contains a layer of wax so that the water that falls on the surface of the leaf forms a grain of water. Flowers with diameters up to 20 cm. clean white, yellow or pink, coming out of a strong stalk rising above the surface of the water. Flowers bloom in July to August.![image]()
There are several lotus cultivars with various flower shapes and colors. Lotus (genus Nelumbo) is a symbol of the state of India. Seroja flowers are beautiful to look at so that they are widely used to decorate ponds in parks. The rhizome is delicious to eat and is widely used in Japanese cuisine, Chinese cuisine, and Indian cuisine. Rhizomes that are eaten raw can be a source of transmission of Trematoda parasites. ![image]()
Seeds rich in flour so that they can be eaten or processed into food. The seeds are boiled, mashed and mixed with sugar into the contents of the moon cake eaten at the Mooncake festival. In China, young seeds are taken as a tea substitute. Humps that are like honeycomb holes are sold in dry form as a complement to the art of dried flower arrangement. The leaves are wide so they are often used as wrappers, especially fish wrapping in traditional markets before the use of plastic bags becomes popular.
