RE: That time I floated out of my body...

in #esoteric6 years ago

So to the confession. I have Narcolepsy, was dx'd in 1992.

Lucid dreaming is part of the whole, and I've had many discussions with people regarding their experiences and mine. I have a recurring (maybe 3x month) situation with my house. But it's not my house and it's never been my house. But when I'm dreaming it is familiar and comfortable. And I'm there. With all of my being.

I don't consider it an OOBE. I have dreams where I am running. I am fully conscious of my body and steps and posture. It's a happy experience all in all. But here's the thing: I have run thousands of miles, worn out many pairs of shoes. I did it to specifically stay in shape and as part of a training regimen and I mostly hated every step.

Anyway, I have lots of experience with Lucid Dreaming. It doesn't really sound like what you did at all. By the way, I probably had that Pirelli calendar. I was a solid customer and mechanic so I got one from the sales rep every year. I certainly can't imagine my Grandparents or Parents with it.

Thanks for the expansion of the ten things. I appreciate it.

Another totally fascinating comment! Narcolepsy seems to be a very difficult condition to live with. I read a book about it recently: "Sleepyhead" by Henry Nicholls. If you haven't read it, I recommend it. He talks about various sleep conditions in the book, including sleep paralysis, which I've experienced once, and it was very scary. It certainly casts an interesting light on these sleep phenomena.
Lucid dreaming is something I would love to do more of. It fascinates me. I always wonder if I could use it in a therapeutic way - eg, I have a phobia of spiders. Maybe I could ask my subconscious where that fear comes from, or re-train my subconscious not to fear spiders.
It's funny that you love running in your dreams, but not in "real life", whatever that is! Dreams fascinate me.
And yes, getting a Pirelli calendar is one thing; giving it to your elderly parents is another, and then them actually putting it on their living room wall...
