Riffing on the Australian Marriage Equality Survey- Sexy title ain't it.

I have almost no trust that governments give even the slightest shit about what 'the people' want or feel or value, i know, sadly cynical. It just all seems like a game for the politicians involved, and their 'teams'- they're so immersed in the game they forget why they started playing in the first place. like, to change things, to improve things, whatever. the fact that the government (and by default the bank systems, medical system, etc) has anything to do with how we share and show our love and dedication to each other is the real scary issue for me. why are we looking to them to legitimise our personal lives? they insinuate themselves into every nook and cranny of our existence and what do we get for it? a pension, access to our partner in the hospital if they're ill, rights to our own children....that's some creepy shit right there. i think looking for a complete and total alternative to the current system- that could actually work, is more worthy or our time and energy than seeking a broken system's approval. But, you know, whatever.
